Jazeera Airways Boarding Problems

Pearls a local Kuwaiti blogger just posted about her experience with Jazeera Airways. She also had problems boarding the plane although her problems were worst then than mine. I don’t think she will be flying Jazeera again. Check out her review on her site. [Link]

:: Well i wrote something about Aljazeera but im not allowed to say SUCKS right now coz they helped from Dubai to Kuwait. I mean they keep telling me that Jazeera close its counter 50 mins before baording and i was there 30 mins before boarding so they took my bags inside and let me return to Kuwait in peace but in one condition … DONT SHOP @ AIRPORT DUTY FREE !! hehe
for a short distance it is more than good but i dont think with long distant.

Mark,if the price is cheap ,then complaining is of no use but if they charge a standard rate ,then u have all the right to criticise them.

Jazeera is awesome, if you were travelling on any airlines during this holiday, you would be complaining.

I’ll never even think to fly with them! They simply
suck in everything!

Sure, Jazeera is cheap and is therefore considered a no-frills airline, but that doesn’t mean they should completely abandon some basic concepts of customer service. The last time I traveled with them earlier this month to Dubai, I was very disappointed with their services. I had booked the tickets a while ago and had forgotten to choose our seats. But when I went to the FAQ section of the website it said that I could still go back and choose our seats at a later date, even after the ticket was booked and purchased. But I searched the entire site, page by page, and there was no option anywhere to do so. So then I tried calling them and stayed on hold for literally two hours (I put my landline on speakerphone and timed it) – and nobody ever answered. So fine, we went to the airport without pre-booking our seats. We checked in, etc, and all was fine. Then we get on the plane and it turns out that my seat (21F) was also booked to another passenger. Both boarding passes had the same seat number written on them. It astounded me that in this day and age of technology, their system would even allow that to happen. The flight attendants were absolutely useless at trying to solve the problem. We were two people traveling together and they couldn’t figure out what to do to seat us together. They just stood around looking at each other and at us, totally lost and confused. Finally I lost my temper and took matters into my own hands and was able to solve the issue, by myself. No help from the Jazeera staff, although it was their mistake.
The next day another friend was also traveling to Dubai on the morning flight. The flight was initially delayed an hour or so because of fog. Fair enough – that’s not their fault. Then, Jazeera decided to add on a handful of extra passengers, and actually re-routed the plane to first drop them off in Bahrain, and then carry on to Dubai!! What do they think they’re running here, a shuttle bus service? Instead of arriving in the morning, my friend arrived well past 2pm in Dubai. For a short weekend trip, arriving six hours late to a destination that is an hour away by plane really sucks.

I have no idea why I thought it was necessary to include my seat number in my comment above. :)

Mark,
on an unrelated issue ,,,I notice that you always use (then) when you mean (than),,,,so may be next time u take care of this simple mistake.

Jazeera is a cheap airlines but I am not comparing Jazeera to British Airways or Emirates. I am comparing Jazeera today to Jazeera airways last year. They were a lot better back then.

They are a lot better than the US domestic flights of Delta, United and American Airlines. Jazeera is a LCC….they are still doing a lot better than the airlines out here.

Try Olympic Airlines if you dare, I flew with them twice, the first time was on Dec, 2005, the plane took off 25 min late, arrived at Athens 15 mins late or so. The connection flight at Athens was also late, we were like 15 mins late in taking off. And of course, we arrived late at our final destination.
Dec, 2006. I thought I would take Olympic again and give them another chance since it’s been a year, At Pearson airport, the plane was 45 mins late!!! Not only that, we were supposed to land in Kuwait at 2:15am, the plane landed at 5:00am!!!!
I used to fly with BA before Olympic, and I have to say that they are the best airlines I have ever come across so far. Great customer service, great entertainment, good food, well organized website. That’s why I purchased a return ticket from them.
I have an advice when choosing which airlines to fly with, check out the airline’s website, if it’s well organized, with lots of easy features, information and services under your disposal, then the airline will surely provide with excellent customer service, otherwise, if I can’t even open an airline’s website properly in Firefox without frames and tables dangling all over the screen, if they can’t deal with a simple thing like that, then I doubt they’ll achieve excellence when it comes to the real thing. But of course…. there are exceptions.

It’s not just the Jazeera Airways is doing that! I’ve had that with British, Malev, Czech, Finnair, Royal Jordan… I can go on! But the reason they’re doing this is because many go for the last min smoke or just having thrier coffee thinking the plane will waith for them.
I think it’s a good thing, because now I won’t get delade becase of some one else’s coffee! So they start calling you in for the waiting to bord room, and by the time bording starts they have called the names that are missing!!
I know it horrble the first time, but personaly, by the 5th time you’ll be ok with it!

If you’ve issues with boarding, pass the buck on to NAS who are ground handling agents for Jazeera.
21. Rani | February 25th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Double Check-in people on the same seat is the mistake of the agent on the ground handling of the airport. I’m quiet sure that these kind of problems doesn’t appear at DXB airport.

i dont know what people expect , you pay less money and you board the newest fleet of A320 ,
mistakes happened in all airlines but when it comes to jazeera every body starts to cpmolaine , they want less fare best service and board the flight last , we should change this old concept and be more practical , finaly jazeera as they say liberate passengers from the domenant of the legacey airlines , as for seating believe me when i say that some airlines staff sell the front seat for other passenger even if it was booked by another one , but at jazeera this can not happen because they have very strict control .
