Kidney for Sale
q8blackmarket took a picture of this classified ad on the street in Kuwait City. I just tried calling the number to see how much they wanted for the kidney but the phone was closed. [Link]
Update: I messaged the guy asking about the price and he replied saying how much I would pay, I replied asking what the best price was. He then replied saying for a Kuwaiti KD1000 while for a non Kuwaiti just KD800.
Update2: When I didn’t reply he messaged me back asking if it was too much. I told him it was and the best I could offer was KD500. Surprisingly he went down to KD650.
Update3: I asked him why he wanted to sell it, he wouldn’t tell me just said it was a personal problem. It’s sad, he must be desperate. Told him not to sell it and that it was very illegal to do but he just responded with a “Thank You”.

These prices are insanely low. A kidney goes for about $100,000 on the international black market. I would guess he is a junkie who needs some more Heroin. Fucked up, the cops should get invovled. This is highly illegal and the type of shit that gets kuwait in trouble with Human Rights Watch.

Mark, I am pretty sure that there are one or more organizations in Kuwait that could help this individual with the required cash instead of him selling a body organ…
500/1000 KD is nothing for most corporate donors.. let him present his case properly to the required circles and it shouldn’t be too hard to process.

an AB (-) can charge more…cos that’s pretty rare….but I think the guy is probably trying to lure the buyer with a low price, lace his drink with some sleeper drug, and the buyer will find himself self waking up in a bathtub full of ice, a wound on his abdomen and a kidney missing…That’s how I would write that crime thriller!! :)

I cant believe he has the need to advertise like that.. theres a waiting list for people waiting for donors in most countries and heres a donor who has to haggle on the price!! somethings not right :)

it is very sad. I dont want to be offensiv but I wonder if being poor affect sanity and common sense of a person !! ok, if you want to sell and you need the money so bad AT LEAST sell in a worthy price ! a problem which can be solved with 650 KD doesnt sound as a big problem !!

It is very sad… Mark and others who thought its a joke, really shame on you ppl.. do you think that anyone will sell their organ just like that? i know more than 3 ppl in kuwait who is willing to sell their kidney to get back their country and paid off their debit which they took it to come to Kuwait.. im sure this guy must be cheated by a Kuwaiti agent and not getting his salary. insted of laughting try to help our fellow human beings in their difficult situation.. im sorry if im rude..

Firstly, It is sick to see people even joking about something this serious. Secondly, its not very surprising.
Mark its about time you wrote something further about the Human Development Index. I feel that post has mislead people to believe Kuwait being 31 on that list actually means something. Least do they know is that it does not cover aspects such as Income equality, and Human Rights issues…which is basically the reason for someone to pursue such methods of obtaining money. Hope the new labor law comes into effect soon to improve the living conditions of people like this.

I think this guy is serious because he has the poster printed out and displayed in a public place. That’s pretty risky, cos he could get into big trouble and also he has given a legit number.
But I also feel that it’s best not to get involved if one is not serious about helping him. Let the guy be. And I’m pretty sure no one in here is in need of a kidney pronto.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I don’t think this is a laughing matter, like a lot of you are making fun of. Obviously this man is in dire need of financial help. Also, think about the other side, like a person who could benefit from a kidney. My father had kidney failure, and went to the USA for treatment. The only problem was that he couldn’t get a transplant there because he wasn’t American. He came back to Kuwait, put an ad in a local paper asking for a kidney, and bought one. The man who sold his kidney was in major debt, and willing to sell one. It is not illegal in Kuwait Mark, otherwise they wouldn’t have let my father place the ad. In the end, my father’s life was saved and the poor donor was able to get out of debt. So I guess you can say selling your kidney isn’t such a bad thing after all.
