Krispy Kreme Expensive?

I just read in the forum that half a dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme costs KD2.750. Can anyone confirm that? I find that ridiculously overpriced if it is.

Update: seem these are the correct prices, but I still need to confirm it myself:
Original Glazed: 350fils for 1 / KD2.100 for 6 / KD3.000 for 12
Assorted Donuts: 400fils for 1 / KD2.400 for 6 / KD3.500 for 12

yesterday, on KKD’s opening i bought “the double dozen deal” which is 1 dozen of original glazed and another assorted donuts for 6 KD
i dunno about the half a dozen but i presume its true

:: When they came to my office offering us FREE donuts they gave me the prices and i as remember each donut cost 500 fils

    so, 6 donuts = 3 KD

but as they mentioned in the forum with the 2.750 i can confirm it for you :)

    Dunkin` Rules Mark hehehe:>

well KK is a new thing
and for some reason everything new in kuwait most cost double

also another rule is that if cost a lot , its good
so if they sold it cheap no one would buy it

  6. 6. Mark | October 24th, 2006 at 9:59 pm

so this is like gourmet donuts?

  7. 7. MacaholiQ8 | October 24th, 2006 at 10:05 pm

Scheiße! Now I know I would never buy their donuts.

  8. 8. Cajetan Barretto | October 24th, 2006 at 10:14 pm

I would have to be really really hungry with no other option in sight to pay 500 fils for a round thingy made of flour and sugar and sticky oily stuff.

    Mark Cheap?

  10. 10. Mark | October 24th, 2006 at 10:30 pm

cheap because i think 500fils per donut is over priced?

  11. 11. mariachi | October 24th, 2006 at 10:36 pm

GoNuts Donuts: 3KD for 1 Dozen: they cost 350fils if you buy them individually. 2KD for 6 Donuts. I dont think KK will reduce its price after the HUGE investments they just made to open up shop in kuwait and the GCC. They are probably thinking that they are “better”, therefore can command a premium price. Plus, they need a quick way to get back their mulla

what are the prices at DD?

  13. 13. Yazeed | October 24th, 2006 at 11:09 pm

    a dozen here cost 3.99$

  14. 14. Yazeed | October 24th, 2006 at 11:49 pm

they might even cause cheaper to make in kuwait because of the labor costs :P

well, I don’t know what to say…stupid Kuwaitis? It’s a damn DOUGHNUT!!! why are u killing yourselves over it? I swear no one cares here(USA) about them. There are like 80 cents or less a piece, due to the fact that in general, USA is more expensive than Kuwait.

i disagree, one donut from KK = 350fils and one dozen = 3kd, how come 6 pcs cost 2.750 ??

  20. 20. michael | October 25th, 2006 at 5:32 am

Hell with that. DD gets my money! I doubt I’ll even bother to set foot in KK now.

    Bastards :(

  21. 21. TweeZ | October 25th, 2006 at 6:54 am

    kk supports Israel!

  22. 22. bo9agr | October 25th, 2006 at 7:35 am

no you moron, KK supports the KKK !! look at their name : KKK (Krispr Kreme Kuwait) !!!

  23. 23. DD lover | October 25th, 2006 at 7:44 am

Don’t judge KK because of a false post!

I just recently went to KK, its 350 fils per donut, 1.500~1.750 K.D for 1/2 dozen, and 3.500 for a dozen.

I don’t know about you, but those prices look pretty to me !

The only difference from KK USA and KK Kuwait is the 150 fils add on.

Overcharging abroad makes up for their near-bankruptcy status in the States. You can read this to get a better understanding of the company.

  25. 25. moocherx | October 25th, 2006 at 9:43 am

that article was funny: “just as rapidly as its popularity spiked, Krispy Kreme pitched into a steep downward spiral that may yet end in bankruptcy. The company’s woes surfaced in May 2004, when then-CEO Scott Livengood blamed low-carbohydrate diet trends for Krispy Kreme’s first-ever missed quarter and first loss as a public company.”

If low-carb diets cause them problems, they’ll make a f*kkin fortune in the middle east!!

I tried them Tuesday to see what the big fuss was about - I suppose you can say I fell for the hype. Verdict - overhyped, expensive, limited range and not very good!

It’s probably expensive because SOMEONE has to pay for the all the free donuts they gave to the the first pig to enter the place. Can you imagine a years supply of donuts? That’s like a death sentence!

  27. 27. roro | October 27th, 2006 at 3:09 am

I have to say fresh outta the oven, KK origioinal donut melts in your mouth. I dunno, it tastes really good to me. But, I was surprised to pay 2 somethin KD for 6 donuts. That’s more than 7$ for some donuts!? more than a buck a donut. Back in the States I would buy a donut for 33 cents, iffff 50. The double charge here is rediculous and kinda turns ya off. It’s not about being cheap, it’s about knowing your being overcharged. In the US, someone making double my salary pays half what I pay for a donut. …. it’s a weird thought….yes Mark, tres tres gourmet

Any of you people checked out the Marina store?

My cousin passed by and said it didn’t seem very busy. He brought some of the dougnuts for my family. They were okay but just doughnuts.

  29. 29. Marzouq | October 27th, 2006 at 2:57 pm

    Damn that is pretty expensive..

the place in marina isnt packed, but people are ordering and picking up then leaving.. no need to say

  30. 30. s | October 28th, 2006 at 3:24 am

Its almost the same as london.
1 donut is 95 pence. a dozen would cost around 11 pounds but they sell it for 6.95 pounds..

Here 1 donut is 350 fils. a dozen would be around 4 KD but they sell it cheaper..

6.95 pounds is almost 3 KD. so thats not bad..

  31. 31. jaz | October 28th, 2006 at 3:31 am

DD is 2.750 KD a Dozen
KK is 3.000 KD a Dozen
