Like The Home Depot in Kuwait
Someone just told me that Al-Sayer Al-Ghanim are launching a new store in Kuwait thats similar in concept to The Home Depot in the US. Supposedly its going to be called “Platform” and they will be launching some time mid this month. I think its about time someone is opening a decent home improvement place here in Kuwait, the only thing we have is Ace Hardware but it really doesn’t have a lot of things.

This would be good – Ace has a limited range and is expensive.

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be over-priced too.
I’d go there to buy a tool box. I don’t need it, but I think the man code demands men to own tool boxes, BBQ grills, some rambo knives and some other things…

u never been to al ni9if in shuwaikh? its not about how huge the building is. its about finding the stuff that you want, and i doubt there is anything u need u wont find over there.

Argh.. I’d stick to Ikea any day. Home Depot sucks :P I ain’t the DIY kinda girl. Nuh uh.

never heard about alsayer opening a home depot, but i know that hassan abul will be launching his new home depot concept mid 2008

It’s Alghanim, and Hassan Abul will be opening his version under the name ‘Abyat’ later than mid 2008. The funny part is that they are across the street from each other. Alghanim will be opening it end of this month.
It’s a Home Depot kind of store, nothing like Ikea. Its for serious builders and DIY people. Ikea is ready made “cardboard” furniture.

I think that ACE has almost everything in hardware category, but maybe you have a special interest of something that is not available, kuwait is a small market comparing to U.S. or KSA.. so in this store they may want to reach their target market of local people interests..
