Medical Insurance

Anyone know of a good medical insurance company in Kuwait? I tried ALICO but they only insure in groups of larger then 10.

TwaiF are they like pay the bill and we will refund you later or do i just show a card to the clinic and not pay anything?

I agree with Chika, go for GIC. But you still have to pay 10-20% per visit. You won’t have to worry about paying at the clinic or hospital, all you have to do is sign some papers and they would directly debit the amounts from your bank account in one month or two.

also, think about if you want to be “evacuated” (as they call it in the trade) to the nearest centre of excellence if you contract something dicey like cancer, or “repartiated” to your home country if you’d prefer that to evacuation.
I just signed for a year with Bupa International but it cost way too much for a lot of people…. 500KD for 1 year, but that was with the option to be transported and treated in the UK if I want.

“repatriated….” clearly I’m already in need of medical attention.

BUPA is good…but they are operating from Saudi…I was under bupa coverage till last year…but due to some corp: level changes, we are now under Alico…pretty happy with them…couple months back our company did a full study and it turned out Alico is best for Kuwait…

Twaif they dont cover you in US because medical care is extremely expensive there and they would not be profitable on the premiums they offer people outside.

it depands if you are doing you teeth then Pay the bill and we will refund you within 10-20 days . other things just pay 4 kd or something like that.

my Bupa doesn’t cover US either, because of the costs. A one-off travel insurance if/when you go to USA is a better idea.

The BUPA International I have is done from UK (for all around the world) not KSA. But I would say on the whole, costs are prohibitive for many: http://www.bupa-intl.com

For day-to-day probs, GP consultation and outpatient costs covering local hospitals/clinics should be enough for most, from a local provider.

Ya Pearls, this is what we do too and 20% is nothing and sometimes, it is deducted after 6 months!
