   Yes Mark.I got mine yesterday without paying the customs for my laptop also.
   I think they are choosing the packages randomly.

   My friend got PS3 games as well as some DVDs and there were no customs!!

   Mark, can we know what did u buy? My printer is no hold for 1 week already… maybe bcoz Aramax wrote in the description “camera accessories”… why they did not write “printer”??

   mine got delivered too yest..no customs charges just nominal aramex charges….yippeee!!!

    WTH, i just got an email this morning telling me that my package is held in customs, i call them and there like u gota pay this this and that. :@:@

    i’m so frikin pissed, customs should only be on products intended for trade not for personal use :@:@:@ that is just soooo not fair !!!!

    + the whole point of people using aramex was to avoid paying those ridiculous prices that some sellers charge here in kuwait. which this new rule i predict a short life for aramex :( ,

    someone has to do something about this !!

    This looks like good news. But I guess it too early to celebrate. Let’s wait n c when the Kuwaiti Customs will wake up and start charging.

    i got the aramex email in both arabic and english and they differ in the meaning.
    the arabic version says there will be custom fees ..tarseem jomreki.
    but the english version say there will be custom inspection.
    my guess is that the English version is the correct one and aramex are trying to get rid of the headache of processing packages thru customs.
    besides the customs cant force fees without a law.
    has anyone heard of issuing such law ?

    I dont think thats accurate…

    i just paid KD13 for a pair of jeans through DHL.. it weighed 1.1KG and when i spoke to them they said most of the charges were for customs!!

    Its RANDOM – Other couriers are also delivering without any fee loads. Aramex seems to be in the hurt box for now.
    Freaky situation. The upsides are wayyyyy too small to play this kind of roulette. They should just apply the rule for business imports.

    Update:

    According to Aramex .. starting from next week they will start charge us on EVERY shipment.

    i think they should send another e-mail

    Thank you for informing us of this oversight. Please bring your packages with the items to the Customs Office so that we may collect our tariffs.

    Having the opportunity to read your blog I see that you have frequently ordered packages over the years. Please also bring these items too to be levied tariffs or bring your customs paid receipts as proof that our office has collected the moneys due it.

    Guys wish me luck, i have plenty of orders on the way, i HOPE for the customs to just ignore mine for the time been!

    i’ll be screwed if they charge me extra! i have more than 6 packages on the way, 2 of them will make it to kuwait tomorrow!

    Just rec’d 2 more packages…no customs
    But I did notice that the Aramex scales don’t seem to be working!
    One weighed 183 grams and they said it was 300gm
    The 2nd weighed 61gm and they said 200gm
    So in future I’ll be armed with my kitchen scales when the delivery man turns up ;-/

    The new customs rules are pure crap – extortion no doubt about it, but we are also partly to blame, yes the bloggers.

    “Look at my new IPOD!”
    “Review: new Apple mac”
    “My 25 CDs just arrived – review incoming”

    blah blah blah – why cant we just receive stuff without flaunting it or feeling an obsessive need to review our merchandise?

    and we are doing it again: “just received a shipment everything is fine!”

    hilaliya I don’t think we have an effect like that. i used to get my monthly issues of playboy and never posted about it and then suddenly i stopped receiving them one day. i don’t remember any blogger posting about getting playboys via aramex so it can’t be us :)

    My package arrived yesterday at the airport according to Joy at Aramex; even though it had left NY on the 21st.

    Lets see what happens. So far the cost is 5.5 KD but its still waiting for the dreaded “customs”.

    This guy called Bu rashed talked about the customs and forwarding companies here in Kuwait he even mentioned the high fees and said it doesn’t make sense. He talked about it last night on Taw el lail on Al-Watan t.v.

    Hopefully it will get resolved before the end of November or I will be paying out the ass for customs, I can’t cancel the stuff for 2 reasons..

    I just have a call with aramex asking about my shipment and the delay , the guy from aramex its take now more time because they checking package by package , and this the new procedure . but he didn’t mention any fees ? ?

    Ok a friend of mine just got a delivery and was not charged anything except for the usual cost.

    When he called up Aramex they told me the charges are as follows

    Value of the Package is less than or equal to USD 100 den tax is KD 1
    Value of the Package is bigger than USD 100 then its 5% of the value of the package

    how come kuwait is trying to be center busniess country and we have this old stupid kuwaiti customs ?

    for me ill quit ordering from outside and save the money ill pay for customs to buy a ticket and travel and get the stuff with me from overseas

    Kuwait goverment !!! where you are leading us !!!!!!!!!
