New Audi Police Cars for Kuwait

Audi Kuwait

A friend of mine emailed me these two photos of what looks to be new Audi police cars for the local enforcement. My speeding fines were probably a down payment.

Update: Here is the picture of the Dodge Charger which was sent in by Khalid. Also I just found out these are test cars and the deal with the government still hasn’t been signed.

I guess they still didn’t realize that there are much better designed top lights (blue&red), with better aerodynamics

  11. 11. Mark | January 28th, 2008 at 10:17 am

Meshooo no they are still with the if its bigger its better mentality

  12. 12. Rakan | January 28th, 2008 at 10:20 am

They’ll most probably be operated by high ranking officers (captain and above) only just like when they introduced the BMW’s a few years back.

I think the next make of police cars will be Mercs, since MOI have a thing for German cars

  13. 13. holla | January 28th, 2008 at 10:25 am

oh man they look fugly. the blue and white makes it look like a goddamn dolphin or something. the BMW’s are much nicer.

  14. 14. Marzouq | January 28th, 2008 at 10:27 am

I wonder which engines they got, and they do look pretty good! Damn!

  24. 24. U2 | January 28th, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Well I saw one on the road other day and I guess these cars will only be for high ranking personnels. .. . . . Looking closely its just an ordinary Audi S6 4.2 Quattro even it doesn’t has that cage type rear compartment which usually we see in cops cars! So not need to sell off your audis ;)

“My speeding fines were probably a down payment.”
    LOL hilarious!

  28. 28. Kuwait | January 28th, 2008 at 4:36 pm

I recall Dodge Chargers being used as Cop Cars when I was in NYC a couple of years back… maybe there’s the inspiration.

  29. 29. Yousef | January 28th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Fucking waste of public money. For every deal they make, someone somewhere is making a shit-load of money. Its a shame.

  30. 30. Maya | January 28th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Why in the entire world do they need Audis?! Tell em what they know to do best- ride camels (pun intended)!

  31. 31. the retail hottie | January 28th, 2008 at 5:36 pm

No matter what the car we can only hope they don’t make a right mess of it with a tacky signage.

  32. 32. Mark | January 28th, 2008 at 5:37 pm

Maybe the ministry can set up a poll with options and the citizens can vote on which cop car to get

    a) Audi S6
    b) BMW M5
    c) Dodge Charger SRT8
    d) Mercedes AMG E63
    e) Lexus is350

what the ministries budget anyway per car? like 30,000KD?

  33. 33. Yousef | January 28th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

Mark, add the Lamborghini cop cars (the ones they have in Italy). At least if we’re planning on wasting public money, let’s waste it with style.

  34. 34. Jack | January 28th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

the cops will be really fortunate if they end up driving audi’s. They’ve already had there share of Fords, BMWs. I say they should get into the S6 and start some serious driving. As for the Dodge charger it wont even be shortlisted. The cops are going for the German product as my sources have told me

  35. 35. Latifa | January 28th, 2008 at 6:37 pm

    Cool.

Mark, you should add a Toyota to the poll, couse that would be my vote!

  36. 36. Sal | January 28th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

I like the Charger, especially with the front protectors for ramming escapees during wild chases. The Audi is too girly to be a police car.

  37. 37. Damon Dash | January 29th, 2008 at 1:44 am

Audi as a police car in Kuwait? get ready for some serious heat problems cops!

  38. 38. Meshari | January 29th, 2008 at 3:18 am

Lexus IS350 isn’t available in the middle east market, we just have the IS300.

one more thing, the deal will be: Audi S6 5.2 L FSI V10 for the traffic, and 4.2 goes for the black and white police cars.

  39. 39. Omar | January 29th, 2008 at 7:08 am

man the charger looks badass.. now all they need to do is to change the uniforms.. bring back teh blue!

  40. 40. abdvullah | January 29th, 2008 at 9:17 am

I vote for Wrangler police car

  41. 41. Jack | January 29th, 2008 at 10:26 am

Dont worry about Heat Damon, the Audis will be equipped to handle heat overload. The specs for the cop cars are beefed up to support such conditions for kuwait.

  42. 42. holla | January 29th, 2008 at 10:59 am

abdvullah maybe if they had those crazy modded wranglers with a 6.1 hemi engine. other wise they could not catch anyone going so slow.

  43. 43. abdvllah | January 29th, 2008 at 6:11 pm

holla, no it has to be same model as Mark’s wrangler.

  44. 44. D | January 29th, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Damn the charger looks crazy! well, they dont know wat to do with the money.. so they go crazy & bought these fancy cars rather than doing somthing else good for the country. kuwait is probably running out of oil & they are earning more from the fines. i wonder, what if, we avoid the tickets, street cams etc.. they wouldnt have bought these cars. and if it wasnt for us, the citizens of kuwait. as you know that they place a hidden side cam. in a car on the gulf road. from afar i can see alot of flashes as if ther were papparazi’s. on the bright side, atleast the country is developing.

  45. 45. Bo-Bader | January 30th, 2008 at 10:33 am

I have been told by a friend police officer that the police Dodge Charger with HEMI engine cost $1000 more that a Ford. They have them fully equipped from the factory and get a special discount for ordering more than 5 cars. He told me that Charger has better acceleration and braking making it a bargain.
