Do they have number auctions in Kuwait? I wonder how much that plate would fetch..

Otherwise, I agree with the boring verdict. For once, Abu Dhabi does got something right! :P

  11. 11. mishref | February 5th, 2007 at 2:02 am

Well, it does what it’s suppose to do. Numbers and Kuwaiat are clearly printed and internationally usable. It’s amazing how people make a fuss out of nothing!

  14. 14. s | February 5th, 2007 at 3:20 am

zoomzoom i got a pic of Ajman plate..

these look so ugly, i prefer the ones we hav now..
number 1 on the top represents the area right ?

  15. 15. Bony | February 5th, 2007 at 5:06 am

I hope the small numbers don’t stand for districts. If so, soon enough people will learn which districts they represent and we’ll get back to picking on the stupid Jahrawi man with the Ferrari Inzo that has Jahra license plates.

  16. 16. sd | February 5th, 2007 at 6:39 am

I WAS TOLD THE REASON THEY HAVE THE UPPER # IS TO REMOVE DISTRICTS IN THE MIROOR. SO BONY YOU WONT FIND OUT WHOS FROM WHERE

  17. 17. moocherx | February 5th, 2007 at 6:57 am

do we know what the “1″ means? Like now, we know not to piss off a driver from Jahra… so how do the corresponding numbers work? And I don’t like the “0″. The plate has no style, so why bother cutting a chunk out of “0″.

  18. 18. Marzouq | February 5th, 2007 at 8:13 am

Ok we are quickly going to figure out what that 1 or any other number up there means!

The plates are HORRIBLE! I wouldn’t want that for my car! Screw it!

  19. 19. Zig | February 5th, 2007 at 8:43 am

This is the start of the auction. Numbers will be on the block soon.

  20. 20. Fonzy | February 5th, 2007 at 8:47 am

  21. 21. Mathew | February 5th, 2007 at 8:53 am

  23. 23. zaydoun | February 5th, 2007 at 8:57 am

Yes to ugly license plates… No to discrimination of governorate-based license plates

  24. 24. moocherx | February 5th, 2007 at 9:04 am

p.s. they probably look this out-of-date because the committee to decide on the design for the new plates was probably in session back in 1965

  25. 25. Mark | February 5th, 2007 at 9:04 am

I think the 1 is just the first group of 9999
The plate only fits 4 numbers so when the first 9999 get done the 1 becomes a 2 and then you go through 9999 again and then it becomes a 3 etc..

  26. 26. Bahrain dating | February 5th, 2007 at 9:12 am

This looks like crap!! even the Blue Lebanese ones look better

  27. 27. moocherx | February 5th, 2007 at 9:20 am

  30. 30. Zed | February 5th, 2007 at 10:15 am

we have to decode the single digits.. otherwise the 3geidies from jahra will be walking amongst us and no one will know lol

  33. 33. Mini Я | February 5th, 2007 at 12:36 pm

  37. 37. mooodi | February 5th, 2007 at 8:45 pm

The entire thing is part of the departments plan to rake in some extra dough, 5KD per plate for every new registration is quite a bit.

  38. 38. spooner | February 5th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

no no no you guys got it all wrong they changed the plates to make the numbers because our cops need to wear glasses lol the cops here are all cross eyed… we need to hurry before the cool numbers run out theyll start handing out #136457

  39. 39. Jafar | February 6th, 2007 at 7:56 am

Such a big fuss about number plates !
1- Mark is right thw “1″ is the start of every 9999 plates.
2- Numbers are issued by computers and based on first come first serve
3- There will be no auction or sale of any special numbers
4- The whole issue of the re-designe is so that the Speed cameras get a “clear ” picture without the benefit of a doubt when speeding
5-The numbers are all “Arabic Numerals” anyway & Kuwait in English is good internationally
6-In few months we will all forget how the number plates look but start worrying about the traffic fines we have to pay.
I baught a new car last week & missed out on getting a new plate

  40. 40. ghazi | February 6th, 2007 at 11:20 am
