New radio station, Mix FM

mixFM

Just found out from q8loco’s blog that there is a new radio station launching in Kuwait called Mix FM 98.4. No one get their hopes up though its an Arabic station so BBC and VOA News are still our only other options over 99.7 for now. [Link]

It used to be a station for religious songs, then suddenly it aired only Quran, then it died..and now it came back as a music station that doesn’t even stop broadcasting music during prayer times.

    Quite ironic.

Salam FM (owned by Marina FM) and now changed to Mix FM which is also owned by Marina FM

They are broadcasting old songs not fresh (2 years old)

Its gona be exactly like Marina FM..Arabic and english..but its all old songs..played over and over again..

Salam FM didnt work because they put anasheed with music so the dayneen were not listenibg to it and everyone else would rather listen to Marina FM

Mix FM 98.4 is developing a different approach from Marina FM, programming-wise. It’ll target the non-Khaliji’s as its main audience. Mix FM’s music will be more Shami, Egyptian, English, and International hits. It will also air some mixes of current and past hit songs played in the form of mini-mixes of 10-15 mins, every hour or so. Even air talents on Mix FM will be of Shami nationalities.

I’d love to hear more of your constructive feedback on talal.malik@marinafm.com

    Talal Malik,
    Music/Imaging Director
Marina FM 88.8 + Mix FM 98.4 Kuwait

Thanks for bringing that topic up Mark.

    I agree with Turk,

Am using AOL radio form my iPhone over edge, connected to my car stereo, its surprisingly fast and clear.

You can browse by Genre, so it caters to whatever mode ur in.

Mix FM should mix their Arabic and English selection with carefully chosen Indian classical and Bollywood lounge music to create a one of a kind FM service in the ME.

The music mix is great, but who are those two idiotic girls they have on their morning talk show??? Thankfully I don’t ever have the chance to listen to the radio in the morning, but I did happen to catch them the other morning. I felt like surrendering everything I have here in Kuwait out of sheer embarrassment of them. Please get them off the air and put them back in school.

What is the name of the the piece of music played during prayer time? Is it a film score? Even if I am listening to Kuwait FM I change chanels just for this.

I like the station…but my beef is… i just heard them play today at 2:30 a bangcock song about trannies… when the golden god is a she or somwthing like that

it would make sense if the station is in lebanon…but still its ramadan and should practise some decency towards the area that the station is being aired in… the middle east.

infact no homosexual or tranny related music should be played in the middle east…i do not care about tolerance or lack of… but this is a music station and not a political platform for some liberals to exercise thier muscle thinking they are starting a revolution…

In america the poor public education system is teaching little kids who are not even sexually active about homosexuality… that’s their business but that just shows how far the liberal minded people are willing to go…

My only concern is…keep it clean and respectful…and we can all enjoy the music without adhering to a certain minority and forcing a majority to ignore the big elephant in the room. So please do not be selfish with your choice of music and take care of others who will be offended by it… and maybe since you are located in the middle east it would be wise to not offend conservatives and avoid getting blown up at the same time.

    Thank-you very much…

    /rant over
