Obika Mozzarella Bar

Obika

I was just at the Avenues (which was EXTREMELY overcrowded) when I spotted a new place that’s opening up called Obika Mozzarella Bar. I just checked their website and it looks like its going to be a cool and healthy place. They’ve got locations in Roma, Milano, London and Turin but they’re now opening up in Kuwait and New York (guess which is the odd one out). Can’t wait to try out them out. [Link]

I’ve tried their place in London (Selfridges, 2nd floor) last summer, it was really disappointing.

If your not a fan of eating fresh mozzarella balls then this place will disapoint you. It will never work here. Think caprese salad but with bresaola, arugula etc etc. Plus you really need wine to enjoy fresh mozzarella. Also it will be very expensive because it has like 4 varities of fresh italian mozzarella, so you are looking at dishes of around 5 kd plus. Again don’t be excited because it a franchise, they dont serve magic beleive me.

The owners are Al Deam United…and yes they also own Diet Center, Al Mayass and several other. Obika will be opening at the beginning of October… Inside the restaurant there will big a large custom-made bar where the plates will be prepared right in front of customers…just like in a sushi bar, except it’s delicious Italian food!

If you’re a fan of fresh cheese then you’ll love this- the mozzarella and other cheeses will be delivered from Italy 3 times a week along with other Italian specialties. . It really will be one of its kind in Kuwait!

well I am going to have to check this place out…. I would consider myself a connoisseur of mozzarella… why, I grew up in Naples italy and lived there 12 years, and I lived 5 Km for the best voted mozzarella Di Bufallo in italia for 12 years, comes freshly from the Kurd that is only hours old, you but it by the Kilo in a plastic bag with buffalo milk, Since I became a Muslim 10 years ago, and have lived in Kuwait for the last 8 years, the One thing I enjoyed the most when growing up was a Panninni on fresh bread with fresh Mozzarella and prosciutto Crudo toasted, Fan a cup of Kimbo expresso
