Oh Maybach

Last time I saw a Maybach in Kuwait was back in May. Since then I hadn’t seen another Maybach in until the day before yesterday a golden colored one pulled up next to me at a traffic light. It was the first time I had gotten this close to one and I realized the car is pretty big. There was a guy driving it, not a driver which struck me odd since I would have definetly expected a Maybach with a driver you know. So anyway guess what? Yesterday I saw another Maybach but it was white. Pretty cool, 2 Maybachs 2 days in a row.

Firstly, i would take the Phantom over the Maybach, anyday. It has more culture, more unique design, prestige and sheer history.

Secondly, a white Maybach here in Kuwait is owned by the Khorafi’s, if you go to Shuwaikh to the Al Khorafi head office behind Alghanim Industries, you will usually see it parked in the drive through… beautiful car still.

As usual Kuwaiti people don’t have any knowledge on car etiquette! I’ve seen that maybach and the guy driving it and I’ve also seen a guy drive a RR Phantom! People should learn that these vehicles are amongst the few that they should be driven in and NOT drive themselves!

actually i thought of it the other way. I was going wow, this guy really must love the car to drive it. if I got the Phantom for example I wouldnt let another person drive it, no fucking way, i would WANT to drive it myself.

Agreed, it might look good to have a driver pull you up to somewhere, but during the day you want to enjoy the beast :) after all you spent the $$ to get it

If I am going to spend that much on a car .. I sure as hell am going to drive it. If I wanted to sit in the back, I would get a Suburban and stick a Laz-z-boy in the trunk.

Last I checked Maybach was steeped in history, heritage, prestige, etc. Maybach was one of the premier engineers for Mercedes at the turn of the 19th Century before he headed off to build THE Maybach. Just because the car hasn’t been around for the better part of 50 years doesn’t mean it’s lost its magnificence or importance.
