I believe that you previously condemned the theft of a photograph by the AlQabas newspaper, on this link:
    http://www.248am.com/mark/kuwait/al-qabas-newspaper-steals-picture-off-local-flickr-user/

So why are you now spreading links to websites that are committing copyright violations (ie theft)?

Can you explain your double standards please?

one is like stealing candy from a baby, the other is like stealing a paper clip from microsoft.

“one is like stealing candy from a baby, the other is like stealing a paper clip from microsoft.”

What a lame excuse! The “Rich Man” is putting an effort to provide you with services and entertainment. If you want to steal from him, it is your choice (Until the day, in which we become a civilized country with respect for laws). But the least you can do is to steal discreetly, and not spread piracy websites for everyone to see.

I have lost respect for you, and your blog.

mark said it was pirated and then its up to u to buy or not… its the same with downloading torrents its up to u, but the difrence between kuwait and the usa is that you get punished if you buy something pirated and here u dont so its up to the buyer to buy or not to buy :)

I think because Mark is in the field of photography and advertising he reacted vigorously to the Al-Qabas incident. If he was in the movie making business, you would’ve seen another Mark.

    Are the dvds Censored ?

    Anonymous Coward:
The Al-Qabas article is about not giving the photographer credit for his work. If Al-Qabas listed their names or websites, they wouldn’t have been mad.

In the case of *pirated* movies in Kuwait, its not the consumer that should be blamed. You can not purchase an original DVD movie from Amazon, they will confiscate it. You can not watch a movie at the cinema, its edited to bits. And finally, you can’t purchase the DVD from Kuwait because no one sells it.

    KtheKuwaiti
I have been ordering from amazon through DHL for the last 5 years and not once has it been stopped or confiscated. Movies, books you name it. So that is a cheap excuse. If you want to download torrents for your own personal use, though illegal in Kuwait also, thats up to you. But when it starts being for monetary gain that becomes worse than what al-qabas did.

This goes for all of you!

Just to set things straight .. I am not condoning the actions of the website. I personally think charging money for pirated goods is ridiculous.

However, my view on the availability of original DVDs in Kuwait still stands. When your order DVDs through Aramex, there is a high possibility they will be delayed, or worse, confiscated.

If the MOI was to reduce restriction on DVDs/Movies, then we wouldn’t have such a high piracy rate.

    whats all the fighting for,
i would rather by a 1.5kd movie than buying the same movie with the same quality for 7.5kd

BTW, the movies in Q8 dvds are not censored

Downlaoding software, movies, programs or any other non-materialistic product that is copywrited and selling them for proift is considered “Theft” and if you do it, then you’re a low life “Thief”. I won’t buy crappy excuses such as “I’m just making a living, I have a family raise, bills to afford”, because that is extremely ridiculous since you’re living in a country that is considered one of the richest in the world.

I don’t give a damn if you download anything through torrents and use them for your own purpose, but downloading them and then selling them and charging people for it, then this is just disgusting….. how would you feel if somebody broke into your store, stole your goods, and attempts to re-sell them again with a cheaper price.

    Copyright Guru,
I am afraid K.Kuwaiti is on the mark when he talks about customs consficating DVD’s. I have personally given up a DVD shipment because the cost of clearing it was more than the actual cost of the DVD’s.

And they were for my kids. “Dora the Explorer” for goodness sake!!!

On the bright side, I just received a camera from Amazon costing $1600 without ANY freaking customs duty!.
