Pink Taxis
I totally forgot to post about this. Most of you have probably heard about the ladies only pink taxis driven by women that will soon be roaming the streets of Kuwait. I thought that was a cool idea until a friend pointed out something pretty funny but sadly will come true. Since the taxis are bright pink and for ladies only, it should make life a lot easier for the guys who cruise on the Gulf Road. It’s like waving a red cape in front of a bull.

There is always the chance that they will be *targeted* since its pink and must be holding females but there are males out there who go mad at the 1st whiff of a female presence… god help them mesakeen… they are trying to do a good thing though insha2 allah ma ye2athoonhom…

bulls are not color blind its a misconception, also they don’t have a preference to the color red.
Those taxis better have police escorts or else we are gonna see a lot of them wrecked on the side of gulf road.
Actually this is a great idea to identify potential lady driven cars on road. Everyone who is spotting a pink taxi can then maintain 10meter distance from the driving hazard in motion…
Sounds great till some creepy guy duplicates the design of the car, wears a hijab, covers his face, and kidnaps women.
@ FYI, where did you get the fact that bulls are not color blind? Billq8 is right, cattle are color blind.
Although bulls cannot distinguish red from green, they do have two kinds of color receptors in their retinas and so are theoretically able to distinguish some colors, probably in a similar way to other red-green dichromatic mammals (such as dogs, cats, horses and up to 10% of male humans). So 10% of the Gulf Road bulls will not chase red or green taxis, isn’t that comforting to know?

The idea of Pink Taxi’ exists and was originated in Mexico due to the intention to shield women from would-be criminals but also from lewd looks and sexual passes. The idea came after Mexico City launched a new fleet of women-only buses in January 2008 that refuse men passage.
Then countries like Lebanon and India joined the concept and now Kuwait :)
For sure these pink taxis will have a TAXI sign on top and on the sides – easy to identify, and should I say, much better looking than lame ass pink Maximas and pink Hummers.

Taxi fares are regulated? Where is this info? Wouldn’t it be better just to put meters in them?
So what’s the point having Eve Taxis operating only till 8 in the evening. I wish it were more like 8 till late. And drivers of what nationality are they going to hire? They had better get Gurkha women from Nepal, or South Korean women drivers for enhanced passenger safety and comfort.
I am out of Kuwait these days but can anyone tell me do large numbers of men in Kuwait still routinely behave like jackasses the minute they find a member of the opposite sex come past their peripheral field of vision??

I think it’s a great idea especially with these poor maids being kidnapped by taxi drivers and sold to brothels etc. Good luck to them.
I think Japan should adopt this idea and implement women only carriages on trains too. The harassment and sexual abuse rates there are very alarming.
I am both intrigued and scared.. I would laugh and say “women taxi drivers!? Oh noez!” but the men here are juuuuust as bad as the women.
What’s the deal with Eave Taxis ? Do families comprising the male gender of the species get a ride if they have a female member accompanying them? Otherwise it will give enough ammunition to some in this country to contemplate a sex change operation to be able to use the Pink taxi service.

woman are just as vicious as men.. n besides..who knws till what time they are available.. probably till 12 max?..i think it doesnt make much of a diffrence.. u never can tell a persons intentions…
what becomes of the regular yellow cabs n white cabs..will they be just for the guys? in that case what bout families then..
