RKFM Want Your Feedback!

I just received an email from someone at RKFM which I thought I would share with you and let you readers reply. Here is the email:

Dear Mark

I’m a fan of your art and I enjoy checking your posts on your blogs every now and then… but I didn’t realise that RKFM was that bad… and you have every right to criticize us… but what do you suggest we do to make it better? … is it just the lack of variety in music or the scheduling of songs? … listeners lame requests? or just plain boring dj’s? is there something specific that pisses you off about it? or all of the above lol!

hope to hear from you soon

So thats the email, leave your feedback in the comments. Thank you.

No country music in the morning, and no ace of base and New Kids on the Block ever, anytime, ever.

Oh, and the morning DJ should be fired or replaced. I thought she would be fired for sure when on the day Woman were down at parliment protesting for womans rights she was on the radio talking about how woman should stay home and raise their kids.

Who did you get this email from? I sent Dj Maha an email twice, because I honestly think she is the only original and unique dj there, but after replying to tell me that she recieved the email, she ignored both emails which were basically a set of very simple questions, some sort of interview which I was planning to post on my blog. No reply from her, so that kind of turned me off even more from RKFM, im giving someone free publicity and they just ignore!

Oh, and pleeeeeease cut down on the rap! I swear ud think u were in Harlem or something when you hear them! Learn a trick or two from Marina fm, its sad that a station so new can do so much more right that an ancient station like RKFM!

Hey Latifa…what’s Mstar’s sexual orientation got to do with the type of music he plays? … Do you support women’s rights in Kuwait? … Are you anti-discrimination? Are you open minded? Doesn’t sound like it!

Its the DJs they are just the worst. Dr. Labouche should be fired on air live just kicked out of the studio. The main issue with the DJs is they talk at you, not to you.

Marina creates this conversation between the DJs and with their listeners. You enjoy listening to them for its listening to a conversation that your a part of. RKFM DJs just babble and banter to hear their own voice.

Also create some listener involvement. Have listeners call in and well talk. It will be great during the rush hours in morning and afternoons when we are all stuck in traffic and want to do something.

firing dr laBullshit on the air would be jsut about the best thing to ever happen to the station.

I suppose if they would just make the playlist LONGER, it would improve things a whole lot. oh and get rid of the seriously fucking rediculous lawerence of arabia score or whatever sad mustafah lee music they play during prayer time. the first time i heard that i thought the channel was out of whack. even fucking silence is better than this psuedo-religious tripe.

Fire the fat ass stupid american bitch in the morning, she is the epitome of shit DJs… seriously, her voice is more suited to psychological warfare than presenting on the radio. She is crap and the sad thing is that I dont think she knows it…

I agree with Latifa. DLB doesn’t respect her listeners and she doesn’t play our songs!

Q, DJ Maha is the best alright. I like her the most because she is the only one who cares and replies back to her listeners. So, half of what you mentioned was untrue.

To whoever can give me some info…
I just moved to Q8 and am glad to have found this blog. I used to DJ in the US and am looking for a place to do the same (part time) on nights and weekend. Can anyone kindly put me in contact with anyone at a decent radio station? I would very much appreciate it. Don hesitate to contact me at saf_1@rocketmail.com. If i get a slot, get ready for some ass kicking house beats.

    Ciao!

RKFM is the same repetitious playlist you hear the world over, the song may change but the purpose and result are the same. Come on everybody let’s get on the MTV train. The music is not the purpose of these radio stations. If it were, you would never see Gwen Stefani sit at the top for so fucking long with her bullshit playground chant. It is simply marketing. If you can mold a market to buy your products on a grand scale you no longer need to “Find a need and fill it”. Just make a shit product and tell everyone they need it to be cool.

“That new Gwen Stefani cut is the greatest, it has been in the top 3 for 10 weeks”

“Really? I love Gwen Stefani, she has great clothes, I wish I looked like her”

“You can, just buy $X$X$X$X$X$ brand bullshit clothing made in a sweatshop of substandard cloth and build so it will fall apart much sooner than less expensive clothing, forcing you to buy more $X$X$X$X$X$ to be cool again”

“Wow, it seems so easy, good thing my parents are rich and I haven’t learnt the value of money! All this must be true too, because MTV says the same thing.”

    /rant

Sorry all, for the rant. While I am aware that marketing is neccessary for business, this is brainwashing.

I am new here from the states, and I love it here. Even though I dislike RKFM’s nomal playlist, it is in my program list for the specials they pull together for the weekend and evenings.

If you want to see a radio station that is more towards music, try:

    http://www.c895fm.com

They put together a decent playlist, but everywhere you go you will still see the same trends.

    Thanks for letting me vent,

    John.

Not enough blog space in the world for me to comment on RKFM, and I know a lot of people from that place and they know my feelings.
