Ruby Tuesday Avenues

Ruby Tuesday

I don’t like the Ruby Tuesday on the Gulf Road for numerous reasons so when I saw the one at Avenues opening I didn’t think much of it. That is until I heard that the Ruby Tuesday in Avenues was owned by someone else. Turns out there is a new owner of Ruby Tuesday in Kuwait and the previous owner is not letting go of the brand which makes things a bit of a mess. Anyway the Ruby Tuesday at the Avenues is the first location opened up by the new owner and I passed by and had dinner there tonight and I liked it.

Ruby Tuesday is located in the food court but its a big location and has an amazing view of the 5th ring road. The decoration was very cozy, the service was very friendly and the food was great. Overall it was a huge contrast over the Gulf Road version and I would definitely go back.

Update: According to a reader both the previous owners and the new owners are legit Ruby Tuesday franchise holders. If that is the case or not, it doesn’t change the fact that the new Ruby Tuesday at the Avenues follows the original US franchise a lot closer in my view. So far the menu seems to be exactly the same as the US one which you can view [Here]

Update2: I got the following in my email today…

Dear Mark,

National Arabic Company holds the master franchise in the middle east, they gave Sultan group a sub-licance to operate in the avenues. NAC is monitoring the Avenues Branch. The menu MUST be the same. There are no options regarding that.

thanks

OOooh … that’s why the one at gulf road has shisha! LOL, a friend of mine told me he had shisha at Ruby Tuesday and I thought he was lost! Now I get it.

What do u mean ‘not letting go’ Mark?

From what I’ve heard, I believe it’s a sub-franchise with full agreement from both parties.

  3. 3. Mark | December 13th, 2008 at 12:49 am

I was told that the franchise was taken from the previous owner.

I just checked the website and ALL branches are listed

so you could be right, would be great if someone had more info on this.

How does the food compare? do they serve nachos like they do in the US or are still using the lame individual-nacho-with-cheese-on-top way?

  6. 6. Mark | December 13th, 2008 at 12:54 am

Food seemed better. I ordered the Queso Dip and Louisiana Fried Shrimp. By the way, their menu is practically exactly the same as the one in the US from what I can tell…

    what about the food ?
same menu ? “without the shisha certainly” !

  8. 8. Croco Rock | December 13th, 2008 at 12:59 am

Mark, I think your info is way off…..

The sub franchise agreement for The Avenues was made with Sultan foods.

    Original owners remain intact.

Why do you dislike the Ruby Tuesday at the gulf road mark? I think it’s service is quite good, and the food is great.

  10. 10. Mark | December 13th, 2008 at 1:31 am

I’ve only had maybe one or two good experiences with the food there, the rest of the time it was crap. Same with the service.

The triple prime burger at the new RT is not the same as the one I always loved in the RT at the Gulf road. GO PREVIOUS OWNERS!

that sucks since one of the few times i actually did experience good food on the gulf road is when i had the triple prime burger.

Will give it a try one day definitely .. Still Fridays and Chilis are my favorites ( Food + Service ) .

I didnt see shisha there .. but my experince was the sitting in the non-smoken area were smoking is allowed in the next table to me .. Really Crap .

But I can see now why you didnt liked burger king menu here .. still dont know why they removed bk big fish from there menu .

    http://www.bk.com/#menu=2,50,-1

I dont know when they will stop somking in resturants .

  14. 14. Mark | December 13th, 2008 at 2:00 am

they do have the big fish on the menu here but i dont like BK because they keep microwaving my food as in they have ready cooked burgers and they jsut heat them up in the microwave and then serve them

  15. 15. wi-fi | December 13th, 2008 at 2:10 am

Unfortunantely No they dont as I was having my lunch today there .. I asked about it without looking in the menu and they said we dont have it ! after I have checked the menu the only fish sandwich they have is hamour sandwich .

microwaving is in all franchies fast food .. I guess .

I was there on the 3 days ago and I think their food was good and we had a nice time. I also tried their new beverage, Sangria which is a fruit juice and it was awesome.

  19. 19. Mark | December 13th, 2008 at 9:25 am

Sangria = red wine with fruits ;)

  22. 22. Teach | December 13th, 2008 at 12:05 pm

Possibly THE most disgusting food I have ever tasted in Kuwait- isn’t it another little islet of the Al Shaya empire?

  23. 23. bOs3ayD | December 13th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

But I’m sure the Sangria they serve here in Kuwait ain’t no red wine with fruits, it was red juice with fruits.

I think the avenues should carry a health warning full stop- have been there a total of five times……can’t people think of something more original to do with their Fridays/evenings/free time/life……? Give me the old souks anytime.

Ruby Tuesday in the USA is only good for one thing. Pork Baby Back Ribs!

  30. 30. Bander | December 14th, 2008 at 5:20 am

YUCK! pork? parasites, no sweat glands, eating faeces.

And still people eat it. It’s like knowing that smoking is disgusting, and people still wanna be disgusting. Some have it in their nature without them knowing it. just visit white people in their homes and you will first smell that scent they produce that makes the flat smells like 200 years old, much like an old fart. I blame the pig

Oh and ruby’s PM is better than chilli’s old timer by let say? 3 times?

well of course no one is gonna believe me, because marky didnt like it, his taste budds have the leading powers to guide kuwaities to what is nice to eat and whats not.

There is so much variety in one place it’s counter intuitive. If Alshaya wan’ts to replicate high street life, they should also undertstand demographics and food outlet distribution. The restaurants in the food court are so cramped together, I don’t think all of them will do well due to lack of visibility.

  33. 33. Mark | December 14th, 2008 at 11:24 am

Its not for Alshaya. The gulf road is for bou khamseen group while the one at the avenues is for the sultan group (not sure if its same sultan as sultan center though)

  34. 34. Jake | February 19th, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Yes Mark you are absolutely right, the one in the Avenues is for the Sultans, the same owner of the Sultan Center that’s why they are totally different with the one in Shaq, Gulf Road. Men compare the service and the food( tho im not into oily foods, I eat healthy). , they have a very excellente service, the one’s in the Gulf sucks alot coz operated by Indian management( no offense dudes!) It’s my honest comment. I dined there 2 days after they opened, brought my gf and we were delighted. The food and d ambiance as perfect. Congrats! Nw that’s what I call WOW!
I will for sure go back there.
