Shake Shack in Kuwait… FIRST!

Yesterday I posted about how pissed I was Shake Shack was opening up in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and not in Kuwait. Well a very reliable source called me up a couple of hours ago and I managed to get some more information.

Alshaya are bringing Shake Shack to the whole Middle East and not just Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Not only that but the first branch of Shake Shack will be opening up right here in Kuwait! The launch date is currently set for first quarter of 2010. So in your face Dubai and Saudi!

We still need In-N-Out, Arby’s, Wendeys and Home Depot. We need to all get together with a big wish list and pass it on to Alshaya.

Fonzie: Many attempts have been made to bring Chic-Fil-A to the region. Unfortunately, corporate is not interested in operating outside the friendly confines of the good ol USA.

  28. 28. Budour | September 10th, 2009 at 11:42 am

I checked their website. It looks good!

Although I don’t know if they are going to maintain their ‘green’ program. I hope they do!

  38. 38. Les | September 11th, 2009 at 8:58 pm

Gaucho Burger is good! They have one at Avenues.

  39. 39. Sami | September 12th, 2009 at 6:48 am

Great news , yet its a shame that Alshaya is taking over yet another brand, and not leaving any room for our young Kuwaiti enthusiasts to do anything from small to big project like this one, or anything other famous brand, rest, etc, with an international image.

  40. 40. Reno Halamer | September 12th, 2009 at 12:51 pm

Wow. Yet another fast food joint imported into kuwait. *spins forefinger in the air* Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Glad that you guys are happy though.

  41. 41. F. M | September 13th, 2009 at 4:25 am

shake shack is amazing , once youve tried them you wont enjoy any other , it ruins every other burger u ever try! it is only in nyc and they have only 2 locations there, they refuse to open it any other place in the States..since the company is against franchising i seriously dont think that its going to open in the middle east ;)

  42. 42. lensman | September 13th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

Hey Mark, what happened to all the healthy food reviews… What is this shyt…

Just another unhealthy joint to complement so many others out there… and theres more coming… sigh…

    Ohhh i’m so hungrry :P

  45. 45. Bruno | September 14th, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Just what this country needs…. another crappy burger franchise.

Why can’t we get a place to get some decent mexican food or a slice of good pizza.

No lets just put up another burger restaurant next to a Burger King that is across the street from a Mcdonalds and right behind a Batriq…. and don’t forget the Hardees around the corner. And of course no street in Kuwait would be complete without at least 2 starbucks…. across the street from a Seattles Best.

Arabs wouldn’t know a good burger (or good cuisine for that matter) if it sat on their face. Try a IN-N-OUT burger sometime

    http://www.in-n-out.com/freshness.asp

  46. 46. zaydoun | September 15th, 2009 at 3:37 pm

In-n-Out hasn’t even opened on the East Coast of the USA, let alone come to Kuwait!

I’ll wait for the fatwa that says you can’t call a place Shake (sheikh, geddit?) Shack… hardy har har!

  47. 47. Yousif J. | October 2nd, 2009 at 2:10 am

Duuuuuude! like a dream come true :DDD
one of the BEST burgers i ever had!

Oh and add Five Guys and The Burger Joint to the imaginary wish list, i dunno if you’re actually making one XD they have heavenly burgers!

if these 2 restaurants along with Shake Shack open up in kuwait, all other burger businesses will be put to shame and close for good!
