  2. 2. Mark | August 15th, 2008 at 1:16 am

  3. 3. nxman | August 15th, 2008 at 1:20 am

  4. 4. .grg | August 15th, 2008 at 1:33 am

    that sucks!!

  5. 5. Technogal | August 15th, 2008 at 2:21 am

AOL 9.1 will work just fine with any blocked websites! But remember you have to be signed on with your screen name and password in order to browse those websites! signing on with guest as a screen name will prevent you from accessing those websites.
by the way it is only compatible with Windows OS.
    Enjoy!

Mark, if you need to credit your skype account you can do it easily by using a proxy. Once you log in just pay and your done.

  8. 8. Spooner | August 15th, 2008 at 3:03 am

Ummm, we can still use skype though can’t we ? Its just the site ?

  9. 9. M3T4L | August 15th, 2008 at 8:31 am

Wnet still has them opened, hope it stays that way.

  10. 10. Mathai | August 15th, 2008 at 8:34 am

As long as you have the skype client you’ll be fine, and as for crediting your account, you could use the auto recharge feature from paypal.
Second option is Moneybookers.com, which by the way, now has a tie up with Commercial Bank.

  11. 11. cajie | August 15th, 2008 at 9:15 am

Well, they couldn’t let the other ISP’s have all the glory now…could they?

  12. 12. Bojacob | August 15th, 2008 at 10:17 am

You can still access the site with a proxy. It’s just a web block.

  13. 13. Mark | August 15th, 2008 at 10:28 am

guys u dont know what to enter your personal information like credit card numbers via a proxy.

  14. 14. Stafa | August 15th, 2008 at 10:43 am

you can configure a private proxy on your own site Mark and then use it, look for cgi proxy/phproxy etc.

  15. 15. Bojacob | August 15th, 2008 at 11:18 am

Yep. Here’s a fun mac command if you have dreamhost or any other hosting service with SSH

    ssh -D 9999 -l username yoursite.com

You can now tunnel your traffic by setting a SOCKs proxy on your local machine 127.0.0.1 port 9999

  16. 16. Moey | August 15th, 2008 at 1:35 pm

    Bojacob, dreamhost disabled that.

  17. 17. Moey | August 15th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

Btw Skype works fine on e-go (zain buys bandwidth from qualitynet no?)

  18. 18. MX5 | August 15th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

Typical MOC mentality, If you can’t Beat Them, Block Them!!

And Moey, Zain’s Internet Backbone might go through Qualitynet but im sure they have their own Cache Engines.

Trust Me, This is Kuwait, What MOC wants, MOC gets. Every ISP will have to block both sites sooner or later.

  19. 19. sinner | August 15th, 2008 at 2:25 pm

you cannot trust your personal and credit card info with proxies, guys!

I use cashU to recharge skype and it is working fine! wohoo!

  20. 20. Moey | August 15th, 2008 at 3:03 pm

Sinner, you can subscribe to softwares such as JAP (google it). I pay monthly when I’m in Kuwait, fast servers.

  21. 21. sinner | August 15th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

I have ghost surf, which is faster n I think is secure than JAP.

  22. 22. Adrenaline | August 15th, 2008 at 3:33 pm

get this http://www.banana-vpn.com and let the ISP and MOC do what they want

  23. 23. xyz | August 15th, 2008 at 3:51 pm

use anonymouse.org then open skype.com from there it worked for me

  24. 24. Don Veto | August 15th, 2008 at 5:00 pm

All those guys mentioning hacks on how to get around this, a big thank you, now they will block all the ports / IPs / ISPs you mentioned too. If you want to help your friends, email them. Don’t announce it to the world.

  25. 25. Adrenaline | August 15th, 2008 at 6:15 pm

    Don Veto

Don’t worry…if it was for the ISPs they don’t want to block anything-not even porn- its the MOC that asks them to.
And once Apple finds a way to keep its iPhone from being hacked only then the MOC can block VOIP.

  26. 26. Sheep | August 15th, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Why doesnt someone call Qualitynet and asked why these websites are being blocked? Skype isnt porn. Its quite useful. A lot of people use to to talk to their loved ones who are studying abroad and stuff.. Why doesn’t someone call a bitch! Instead your looking for ways around it like proxys and shit.. they have no right.. we need to fight it.. not give in.. silly people..

And while your at it.. complain about the gayness of youtube.. what is the problem?! seriously..

  27. 27. holla | August 15th, 2008 at 6:45 pm

VOIP is technically illegal in kuwait

  28. 28. Adrenaline | August 15th, 2008 at 7:23 pm

    So is Alcohol ;-)

  29. 29. xyz | August 15th, 2008 at 7:23 pm

i know VOIP is illegal but still the zain and mtc prices are too hgh still they can block anonymouse.org

  30. 30. Haykal | August 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Why on earth would they block Skype…..retards.

  31. 31. SWOS | August 15th, 2008 at 9:46 pm

Mark, if u want to access Skype.com just use this link:

    http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.skype.com/intl/en/

many other options to recharge ur account that were mentioned by the guys.

  32. 32. Mark | August 15th, 2008 at 9:48 pm

SWOS its risky to use your credit card while using a public proxy

  33. 33. Bojacob | August 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm

Moey: SSH tunneling to dreamhost works fine here. I’m on the Mento server. I’m using it right this moment.

  34. 34. Mark | August 15th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

i solved my problem by getting a vpn account. now i can access pandora again and even got it setup on my iphone so pandora there too!

  35. 35. lensman | August 16th, 2008 at 12:25 am

Skype, fring and pcphonecall and many other sites have been blocked by qnet, kems and FT. you can use proxies to access them, but be careful with your credit card info.

  36. 36. mocman | August 16th, 2008 at 1:51 am

STFU…… i cant believe you people. Always complaining about every single thing. This country has given and given and given. But has anyone said thank you??? NO!!! These are the rules. And everyone has to follow these rules. You all dont like go back to your own countries. A. K. A. GTFO…….

  38. 38. Sam | August 16th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

Mark, may I ask which vpn did you get and why (ie. advantages)?

  39. 40. Sam | August 16th, 2008 at 1:13 pm

Thank you Mark for the fast reply.
Witopia looks tempting but what about its usage? doing well with you or you faced any problems? and by the way do you know of any vpn that is compatible with windows mobile and symbian?
    thank you again.

  40. 42. Rayboy | August 16th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

another way is you pay roughly 10 to 20 KD a month rent a dedicated server online , install your own proxy server and use that as a proxy …

if you can work as a group of friends .. you can work out your own thing really cheap.

  41. 43. Mark | August 16th, 2008 at 4:35 pm

yeah except using a proxy isn’t a better solution than vpn.
VPN is a lot more practical to use since once you turn it on you just browse and do everything as you would regularly do. Plus $40 a year is cheaper than 10KD a month and you get more out of it.

  42. 44. Rayboy | August 16th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Witopia is great , cheap and quite secure… i use it myself.. but itsnt stable, many times i have to disconnect and reconnect about 4 to 8 times to get it working… Even though it says secure, you sure you can trust it?.

I understand vpn’s are more stronger than proxies ..

But keeping security in mind(about how many unknown connections to same link) and the latency involved.. i would work on the proxy…

  43. 45. Mark | August 16th, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Well unless you’ve written the code for the proxy yourself I don’t see how you can trust that.

Witopia has been stable with me but I’ve only been using it for a day now but even if Witopia is not stable, Witopia is just one supplier of VPN, there are a million more.

Its not about VPN being stronger than proxies, its about the limitations of proxies.

Latency is a problem with proxies and VPN but keep in mind the extra time that involves you going to the proxy website and typing your url there. Yes typing because you can’t use all your saved bookmarks. With VPN once its on you don’t have to do anything else, it just works.

  44. 46. Rayboy | August 16th, 2008 at 6:34 pm

??? when i mean proxy … i dont mean sites like annoymouse etc.. i mean “settings which you do in the your internet setup”

About “whether i have written the code” … thats a whole different story.. i do not think you quite understood what i meant..

  45. 47. Mark | August 16th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

ah ok, now i get what kind of proxy you’re talking about.

  46. 48. Rayboy | August 16th, 2008 at 6:40 pm

    :-)

  47. 49. Ms.Baker | August 16th, 2008 at 9:30 pm

Thanks Mark for this post and the info. Very very helpful.

  48. 50. VirusX | August 17th, 2008 at 2:52 am

    WTF!

Even proxy sites like hidemyass.com & anonymouse.org will be blocked soon!
There is some mobiles from Nokia itself working with a new technology called GAN (UMA) its like VoIP will be forbidden to enter our market!

  49. 51. Brian | August 17th, 2008 at 8:10 am

word to the wise. if you have slowness issues with witopia it may help to use their DNS servers and not your isp’s. I’ve used them for years all around the world but had some very bad slowness once and got this advice from their customer service dept. The link is http://www.wiki.witopia.net/FAQ (#6) I like them..their price for openVPN service is incredible and like the other poster mentioned..Pandora over VPN through my iPhone is a sweet sweet extra.

  50. 52. human | August 17th, 2008 at 11:02 am

    Limit, agree with you :)

Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

  51. 53. BoBader | August 18th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

Guys I have a secure solution. Use AnchoreFree Hotspot Shield. It is a secure VPN that protect you when you access the internet from a public WiFi. It can also be used to bypass Kuwait censorship ;)

    It is free.
