Crocko: Right after you leave our parking strip, take the next immediete right and you will see a Huge parking lot. A lot of ppl say we have a big parking problem but no one seems to notice the parking lot literally 20 steps away.

Pink Moon – Correction: The plans for Sheraton roundabout/1st Ring have been on the shelves for 25 years, if not more.

As for the strip, I don’t think the government has anything to do with it.. it’s all to do with whoever owns the property and whoever bought it. I think they have different plans.

Crocko… skip the parking there and park your car in the Central Bank’s parking lot and just walk over. Plenty of space and your car won’t get scratched

Pink Moon, I agree that the location for these concepts is unique and somewhat cozy, however, the location in general is a disaster because there is no parking.

You go into the lot and if you don’t find anything first time, you may end up back out on the road and subsequently the roundabout again.

I can’t imagine how much business this area loses thanks to the awful parking. (I know I’ve left in frustration).

p.s. I know that SS has valet, but seriously, I don’t trust Valets in London let alone Kuwait.

Off topic: Mark, just a heads up about Cloverfield: Overall, it’s a nice movie. There are hardly any inappropriate scenes, even the cussing is kept to a minimum so you don’t have to worry about it being edited to death at the movie theater in Kuwait. This is the type of movie you want to see at a theater. Watching it on tv just isn’t the same. Oh, and pay close attention to the ending scene, there’s a key clue that’ll help you understand the story. I missed it myself because it was very subtle, but I read about afterwards.

Didn’t the exact same thing happened when McDonald’s opened for the first time in Kuwait? Like it was near Shikeh Sa’ad palace or something? But in the end it didn’t get demolished and still running.

We heard a rumor about this a few weeks ago so we called up our building manager and he confirmed what Equalizer said, it’s the block next to us they want to tear down, next to the roundabout, not our strip. And even that demolishing will not happen until the central bank finds/builds another building, so it’s not gonna happen anytime soon.

FYI…The plans for the first ring road/sheraton roundabout have been around for 15 years, and they just started working on it last year.

Sal: I can’t speak for the rest of the strip but what I love about our location is that we aren’t in a crowded mall. We’re easy to get to, shop at, grab a bite to eat somewhere, and take off. No hassle, no fuss.

I just got off the phone with one of the owners of the Burger Hub, he confirms that they’re demolishing the area next to the Grand Mosque only, and that these places will remain untouched…so…there…

I have investigated from my end, and it appears that this applies to the shops near the roundabout (Shay w Nana) etc in the block called Soog ilTijar, which is the old office block all the way to the central bank. However the “Strip” with all the aforementioned brands won’t be touched as the place houses an important parking facility that connects to the palace through the bridge. It doesn’t seem likely that it will be touched at the moment.
