I’ve been waiting for this to come … For ppl who have.. lived in the UK would know how awesome the TESCO online service …. the concept is economical and convinient …. you get to c wat other brands are there in the product u are looking to buy …. u can compare brands ….. plus u even get to know wat ur bill would end up being before you have to pay for it … bcuz i always end up with an unexpected bill when i get to the cash counters…. mE

What would be great is if you can log in to a website.. Serf it and tick what ever items you want from every section and check out.. Pay with your knet and set the delivery time.. That would be perfect.. No need to go to sultan and look for a parking spot or anything anymore..

i was always surprised why sultan never had a delivery service here considering the amount of ppl in q8 who absolutely love things delivered rather than going out n getting it….plus all big supermarket chains worldwide already do online shopping!!
7. talli | September 19th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
what sultan should start is their own green-bag promotions wherein ppl recycle their plastic bags by reusing them at their next visit…
else sultan could give away re-useable top-quality plastic bags…say 1 bag / purchase of KD 20 or 1 bag against ‘X’ number of sultan card points….and then give an incentive to ppl to get them back for their next purchase (eg. bonus points on their sultan cards, cash back, etc)
check out the “tesco bags for life” introduced by UK retailer tesco…i think this is a much needed change we need in q8..

I doubt its going to be like Baqala where u order and they deliver right away. I always buy my groceries online when I was studying in the UK because it was hard for me to carry all those bags by my self…
so the way its supposed to be is… you book a delivery slot.. they’ll have a calendar with available days and time (usually its on the regular working hours, not a 24hr delivery like pizza hut!).. the closer the date the more expensive (like if its tomorrow u’ll have to pay 2 KD, if its next week its free.. etc).. and the price of delivery slot would change just like air jazeera tickets!

@tali there are reasons why grocery stores in the UK promoting reusable bags… mainly because the cost of the plastic bag itself and because government incentives and taxes related to environmental laws. we dont have such a thing in Kuwait. businesses here look for what is cheaper to them, and a plastic bag is always cheaper than an environmental friendly recycled and reusable bag.
this is not only with plastic bags, its with human beings, machines, and everything…

this kind of delivery shit is exactly why kuwait is one of the fattest countries. I mean, all you have to do to drive a fucking car is move your foot. Jesus christ.

@azeez…i dnt really see the govt here pushing ppl to go green…so i guess its upto the corporates to take the initiative n start making ppl think green
abt de cost…i guess dt is a factor but if they offset it against sultan card points or against big purchases, i m sure they will benefit in the long run…

nice, just what I need. I just hope that their product selection is wider and more detailed than taw9eel.com.
the con about this is that we are adding to the traffic in Kuwait. If you guys think about it, most of the cars that occupy the roads are delivery cars/trucks/bikes.

I guess they are trying to compete taw9eel.com since it become something everyone is start using it ; “)
14. CBA Guy | September 19th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
TAKE THAT taw9eel.com ;////
big business fights back!
;p

i think Mishrif (or Bayan) Co-Op is also starting a similar service, it was on the news papers the other day. if this is done… it will beat Taw9eel and Sultan Center, cuz Coops always cheaper.
16. monera | September 19th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
yaaaaay finally i got to participate
17. CBA Guy | September 19th, 2009 at 7:04 pm

If they start recycling plastic bags here what they use to decorate the landscape?
Just construction rubble and tyres? Where’s the colour in that?

something worth checking out…..every once in a while.
24. hilaliya | September 21st, 2009 at 5:35 pm
This is a great idea – they should also build a website where you can order directly.
More merchants need to think outside the box like Sultan.
Now if only they could get gas stations to open 711 type 24 hour minimarts.
25. Jem | October 7th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
i did more than half of the illustrations in it n typed out all the stuff in it.. thank god its finally …. still coming out.. only god knows how many times they changed it over n over again after i left Sultan printing…
26. Jem | October 7th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
but dont u think its a bit pointless.. i mean after they have say .. new products they will have to add in n re-print them over again.. n they get new items almost every 1 n 1/2 month….
