Symphony Mall

There is a new mall opening near AUK in Salmiya called Symphony Mall. A friend of mine was telling me today that its supposed to be the most luxurious mall in Kuwait. According to what he heard they will have the worlds most expensive bathroom at this mall. Woman would be able to get foot massages in the bathroom. There will also be a water bar at the mall with a whole variety of bottled water from around the globe. Carrying your own bags will also be a thing of the past, Symphony Mall will provide shoppers with their own slave personal assitant who will carry the bags for them.

Should turn out to be an interesting place..

Erm, not something I’d be proud to say I have in my country, but I guess people here would think it’s the greatest thing after the founding of malls.

I mean really, I’d feel SO bad if I had someone following me around just to carry my bags. I’d rather just use the hands and arms God gave me. Unless they’re for the disabled, then I actualy think its a great idea.

And foot massages in the bathroom!? We need more people in bathrooms? There’s already enough of a crowd in there with people just fixing themselves up in the mirror taking their own sweet time even though there’s nothing wrong with the way they look. Thats’ besides the point, but I mean, wouldn’t a spa or salon have a better atmosphere for me to enjoy that massage? :P

On the bright side, as moocherx said, a new place for local rich wannabes and less people in other malls. Yay!

Symphony will alos be home to one of the world’s new luxury line of Hotels, Hote Missoni which is a partnership between the Missoni Fashion house and if i am not mistaken the group behind Radisson Sas.

Correction it will have a Cerrutti Boutique hotel. This is interesting because most boutique hotels have a central meeting point, usually a bar / lounge floor with an upscale restaurant. I know that the company is far from being proffessional when it comes to handling such a big project. A luxurious mall without the proper tenancy mix usually leads to low foot fall. I would bet more on Al Hamra Mall with Kuwait’d tallest building (70+) which has 10 cinema screens, a villa moda store, and hopefully a good tenancy mix that does not give me the same monotonous feeling you get with other malls. Oh haven’t I seen this before?

I think it should be home to Kuwait’s first Wetherspoons bar, with the usual discount on pints of Guinness.

One more thing, it should be call the Amistad Mall.

    Are you serious, Faisal?!
Since when has it become okay to have women as merchandise in Kuwait malls? :) And what abt the merchandisers for such stores? Surely, they can’t get lesbians or even straight men to do that job!
Unless, you meant women-only, as in a lesbian mall; pray, it’s not designed by a Lebanese lesbian. Now that I can totally understand.
From what I overheard in the souk, there’s talk of Colete, Madeleine Vionnet, Aquascutum and Harrods of Knightsbridge opening shop alongside the largest Ann Summers store outside of the UK, Vibrators R Us,
the Cancan oxygen bar for transexuals, the Kamasutra lounge for lesbians, and lots more fun & happening stores.
Oh, and moocherx; given the strict restriction on social etiquette in Q8, I doubt very much if Wetherspoons has even got Kuwait on its radar. An uberchic Turkish hammam opening, will be more in step with local tastes and requirements.
Should be a very interesting retail concept, I tell you.

Can someone tell me how many new malls are going to be opened in Kuwait. I understand that Avenue (Mabanee), 360 (Tamdeen), Mall of Kuwait (Tamdeen), Hamra Mall (Who is the owner?) are going to be opened. What other malls other than Symphony and the above are going to be opened? Thanks.
