The Bear Saved
Early last month I posted about a bear that was for sale here in Kuwait. People started calling Animal Friends who launched an extensive investigation aimed at locating the bear and helping the government to seize the animal.
The investigation discovered the bear living in a small cage in Kebd, exposed to the sun, chained by the neck, living on a diet of rice, and only offered water twice per day. After reviewing the evidence presented by K’S PATH, the MOI Police force, along with representatives from the Kuwait Environment Protection Agency and the Kuwait Zoo began the process of confiscating the bear and several other illegal animals being housed at the same location. The bear is now being housed in the Kuwait Zoo, and K’S PATH is attempting to find a suitable sanctuary in the natural range of the Eurasian Brown Bear. [Source]
I think that’s really great news and the group effort that went into this rescue was amazing. are you telling me that the police just came to Kebd and took it ?
I know people have tigers in houses area .. there is no rule that tells me how to deal with any animal inside my house .

of course they didn’t pay for the bear. Its illegal to have animals like bears and tigers at home.

are you sure you talking about kuwait ?
coz here cats are runed over by cars in highways and in local streets .. where are these animals friends ?
I mean i am not against this move aganist this bear as without that website no one would know about it .. but saying its illegal is totally rubbish .. there is NO rule .
have u been in Kebd before ? coz if u dont thats another story .
and YES .. there are tigers raised at home.

great news. but isnt it sad that they have more ppl looking out for the welfare of animals in this country than they do for people? tonnes of ppl probably get less to eat than that bear was given every day… no MOI or anyone for them thats for sure.

K’S PATH conducted the investigation into the sale and whereabouts of the animal. Kuwait currently has no laws with prohibit the ownership of endangered animals. It is, however illegal to buy or sell them. We turned our evidence over to the police and the EPA who enacted the law. No money was paid, and the owner of the bear was fined.
Additionally, Kuwait has signed the CITES agreements, which require laws to protect endangered animals for the benefit of all people everywhere. The only way Kuwait will ever pass these laws is if its citizens show sufficient support for them.
