Does anyone know what they’re building next to the airport. It looks like a large dome.

New VIP terminal I heard from a rather reliable source.
tallulah is correct. the old vip reception hall is crumbling. the workman have just started to clad or cover the new ceiling. “i call it the bee hive” ’cause thats what it looks like from the inside. and btw theres gonna be new red carpets and water closets that work. ramp and parking on the AOA is still tight.

I belive its for the economic conference that would be in 19-20 this months .. but is it going to be finished before that time ?

I am guessing that is the new Wataniya Airways terminal. it says on their website that they have their own terminal and its picture looks a bit like this one …
nope, thats the royal aviation terminal which is already constructed and looks nothing like this. its also more further away.
As from some of you metion now .. it could be :
1) as Mo said it maybe the new qa3at il tashreefat .
2) or as tallulah mention a vip terminal .
I have a question .. as the vip terminal became wataniya terminal where did the vip went now ?
I still belive its will be used for the economic conference .. :)
VIP terminal didn’t become Wataniya terminal. The Royal Aviation Terminal is the private jet airport which is now converted to wataniya airways terminal.
negative my friends. the Kuwait international airport’s FBO or fixed based operations building of which royal aviation is one of the tenants and wataniya airlines is another tenant. there are other tenants who are also located there. one of my favorites is the “sky cafe” stop by yourself for coffee, lunch or just to check it out. theres plenty of free parking.
Skip Town thats not the Royal Aviation Terminal. I’ve been to that terminal a number of times and its not even close to this bubble. Sky Cafe also sucks.

thats right as i said in post #2 above it’s the State of Kuwait VIP reception hall. and wataniya airlines is going to use the FBO. the “bee hive” is off to the right of 15L & the FBO is at the opposite end, left of 33R.
i never said the sky cafe was anything other than open & a favorite of mine, visitors should try it and decide for them selfs. with limited choices it’s as good as it’s gonna get way out there. what the place needs is a real “roach coach” or “ptomaine trolley”

It is the New VVIP Diwan al Amiri terminal, and the terminal will not be done before the summit since its only about 18 days away! I saw the pictures of it and it looks more like an Egg holder!
Still can’t find a straight answer. I guess we will have to drive there and see/ask for ourselves.

It’s the new VIP terminal that will be used for members of the royal family and other visiting important guests, although not for head of states. This is NOT the VVIP terminal which is used for the Emir and when he receives Heads of States in Kuwait. It is part of the VVIP airport, as the current VIP terminal is connected to the airport in the south side. People who will have access to this new VIP terminal will have to board commercial planes by cars.
No matter what it is.. it looks so ugly!!
It looks like a weird tent though not a dome. It is probably some VIP terminal if it is next to the airport.
Dana it is the new VVIP airport!!!!! heads of states or any high ranking official that come on a commercial plane is received at the VIP that is connected at the airport!! but if he comes or she comes in a private jet he/she goes to the Egg holder.

It is not Wataniya Airways Terminal. The terminal of Wataniya is called Royal Aviation terminal and it is located in Sabhan Area. To reach there you shall take road 50, then exit 51 direction Sabhan.

The VIP terminal is adjoining the Arrivals terminal , near the Airport Limousine stand.
There was a delay due to unavailability of parts and materials but i hear work is progressing well now
so typical leave the airport crumbling and tiny, and a sad sight for any ne to see and try and decieve the heads of states by not showing them how pathetic and embarasssing our 1000 year ld airprt is.. they can hide the airport but they cannot hide the rest of this country. fyi i <3 Kuwait i am just stating the truth

its has jetways!!! the plane parks and the jetway connects to the plane. since arab rulers are getting older i guess they are trying to eliminate the stairs :P
its a Jet avaitation and I’ve been there a couple of times ago and its just for private jets and VVIP … ;)
Hello everyone,
The pic above is the new Amiri Terminal Building that is being built by Ahmadiah. This terminal will be solely used by Kuwait Amir & his guests.
This terminal has facilities such as a Grand Meeting Room, Dining Room, lots of Bed Rooms, Kitchens and services area. Though this project was supposed to finish before the Conference so that the conference could be held there, but sadly it couldnt finish, it will still take a year to finish, but within 3months the cladding of the dome will start and very soon anyone flying from Kuwait can see a Huge Golden Dome shining bright! It is supposed to be a Landmark place in kuwait once it finishes. Hats off to Ahmadiah!
