The Google Phone in Kuwait

G1

Looks like the G1 phone is starting to trickle into Kuwait. Blasha is getting hers tomorrow and she’ll review it once she does. Personally I am curious to try out the keyboard on it but I highly doubt I would replace my iPhone with the G1. [Link]

It sucks…i saw it my friend has it not worth it. Trust me the iphone is much better and the keyboard things sucks. Opening it and closing it is a pain in the A**. Its looks like a phone for the 1st generation. Dont buy it an iphone is much better. Or go ahead and get either a blackberry or a e61 thoose will work out better.

Personally, i think the iphone is over hyped. Ive played around with the G1 and it seems to be holding up quite well. Its awesome! the phone can compete with the iphone but who can compete with one of the best marketed companies in the world! The G1 lacks the multi touch feature and the actual HTC cell phone used for the G1 isn’t the best looking cell phone out there. . . it does however do the job.

The phone is quite responsive. I found the browser quite fast and it has capabilities quite close to the iPhone’s Safari browser but the G1’s browser is slightly slower than the iphone’s browser.

The applications available for the G1 are ALL free and this is only expected since Google’s Android firmware is open source to the public. Even i have the programmers package. . . that’s how easy it is.

The phone’s speaker is quite ok and by ok i mean that it can be heard. It does lack an on screen keyboard wich i despise because it would make life MUCH easier. . .The best thing about the iphone is the fact that it has the touch screen keyboard. However, rumors are going around that an update or even a plugin for the G1 could integrate an on-screen keyboard.

The GPS on the G1 isn’t as good as you might expect it to be but who knows. . . it could improve with firmware updates. . . I’ve never found GPS on cell phones to be quite the choice. I would consider them to be the second choice or the backup GPS.

The camera isnt as good as it could be with all the competition out there. But i guess people who own a G1 wouldnt want to use the camera as much. . but its a good quick shot camera…something for the moment.

Overall, the G1 is worth it if you love cell phone applications due to the fact that the Android Firmware on the cell phone is open source. It could also be a good internet tablet device for all yall people who cant stay offline like my self. . .

If you like media like videos and music and internet browsing. . . i would stick with the iphone since it does have the best browser ive seen on a cell phone. . and it is an ipod deep down inside so yeah, music lovers, pick this phone.

go over to the HTC website (they make the gPhone) and check out the HTC Touch HD. If anything can beat the iPhone, this can. Its features rock!!

Unfortunately , the phone is dog ugly.

Reading the reviews, the Iphone beats the G1 hands down.
The question is, who wants to pay almost a $1000 for a Iphone?

So, for the money maybe… and yes, buying the phone here in Kuwait would be 3X more than most places..

After looking at the comparison, It seems that the G1 is much better. But do they sell it in Kuwait, if yes where? Can we freely use the Google messenger, or zain has to do it for us?
