Viva’s office on fire
I got an email from someone telling me that Viva’s office on the 18th floor of the Olympia building was on fire. I brushed it away as a rumor and decided to ask a friend of mine who works at Viva if their office was really on fire. Turns out its true and they had to evacuate the building because of it. I don’t have any pictures but if I get any will post them.
Update: Just got one picture which I added to the post above.
Update2: According to a source at Olympia, it was a small fire started by an electric short. Both buildings were evacuated for 15 minutes.

“The fire started at the Executive floor!”
Who was William Holden in this mess and who was the Richard Chamberlain type cutting electrical costs to launch the building?
I just hope a Steve McQueen type saved the day.

I was there on the 19th floor. The alarms were ringing intermittently for a while (5 minutes or so) and most of us were brushing it off and trying to work (stupidly enough). Then one of the guys came from another floor and asked us to get the hell out. That was one tiring climb down 19 floors of stairs and there was a lot of smoke too.
It seems it was caused by a cigarette on the 9th floor (or the 15th, still hearing different things), but thankfully there seems to have been no injuries. I managed to to take a couple of pics before going off. Now I’m back on the 19th and things seem to be OK.

So do you stick the heat inside in the fire or go outside to the inferno that is mid day summer Kuwait? Tough decision, equally horrific……………
