Cyber: when you fall off a bike going 100 kph plus or even 40 kph, the only thing between you and the ground is the material protecting your skin. I have fallen off without a jacket before and let me tell you its not a pretty picture, and I was only going 40 kph, one time I fell off the bike going 260 kph (on a track), and I was wearing a full suit and all I had was a few bruises nothing else.

It provides a lot of protection! The ground is hard not soft, so you want something that will protect you at high speed!

Cajie the laws in each state is different, but most states have helmet laws, where you have to wear them. The jacket and gloves are optional. But your better off wearing and most do. Its rare that you see someone just riding in their tshirt.

CyberRowdy jacket, gloves and pants are important. Imagine you fall off a bike going 60km an hour. if you are wearing just a tshirt and shorts you will most probably have your skin scraped off. it wouldn’t kill you but you would probably with you were dead.

also jackets come with elbow, shoulder and wrist armor. these reduce the chance of breaking bones.

Such sights are commonplace in Kuwait. Seeing a rider properly suited up seems to be the exception to the norm. Alas, riders like this only add credence to the theory of natural selection.

A full leather outfit is a requirement (I believe) in U.S. for riding bikes - and a good thing too. It helps protect you from serious injuries and abrasions in case of a fall.

i can understand the helmet part you mentioned…do other items really matter in a safety point of view? like jacket…or shoes…etc? if yes, how?

Good post mark, they annoy the hell out of me! I dont care if they do tricks or anything, but just not wearing gear is asking for it! I dont know why they never learn!

And that guy is looking around to see for any girls, so that they could see his face! Thats why! What an idiot! I see this a lot!
