Amazon MP3 Store

Amazon MP3

I just checked out Amazon’s MP3 store and it turns out it works with Macs, iTunes and my iPod! The prices of the songs are cheaper than the iTunes store plus they are DRM free. You can try it out by visiting amazonmp3.com

Update: Ok now I am pissed, just tried buying a song and I got the following message:

We are sorry…

We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Update 2: Ok I just tried it again and it worked. I had my primary address my UK mailbox for some reason so I changed it to my US address and it worked. I just purchased my first song and I am currently downloading it! You do not need a American credit card, I used my NBK one.

Update 3:
Finished downloading. The tiny Amazon software automatically added it to my iTunes and the song included a high resolution album art cover. Purchasing this song was just tooo easy so I am kinda worried now that this is going to be addictive.

Cajie how did u do it?

  5. 5. cajie | September 26th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

I think it works only for individual songs and not for albums.

For albums, you need their dedicated “Amazon MP3 downloader”.

I just selected the song I wanted, and hit the “Buy Mp3 song with 1-click” button.
It recommended that I use the downloader, but there’s an option which says “Skip and continue” or something, and then the song starts downloading.

thats what I did but I got the error!

    Hmm. Strange.

Just downloaded my second second song.
The VISA statement is going to be crazy if I continue with this :)

I don’t know why it is letting me download, as their Terms of service clearly state that the songs are only for US residents. I am using a normal connection (no proxy, or anything), and my NBK credit card on file with Amazon.

BTW, these are high-quality downloads (8-9 MB on average, encoded at 320kbps).

Well - downloaded the graduation album by Kanye West with a random address in US. Bit worried that may bite me in the ass at some point though - just seems to good to be true that they have left a geographical gaping hole this big?

  15. 15. snookie | September 27th, 2007 at 7:08 am

i dont understand why people buy mp3s.. its not like downloading thru p2p is hard.. and with torrents, there are download clients that allow u to select only the specific songs u wanted from an album.. and u can also find high quality mp3s in 200s and 300s bitrates..

i dunno.. i just dont get it.

    @snookie,
Perhaps because downloading via torrents is illegal?
    I dunno…

Try MP3Sparks, (previously AllofMP3), you can download at 320 kps and even at CD quality if you want. Also it has the option of either MP3, AAC & OGG Vorbis. It will accept all credit cards. Is it legal? I dunno..and I don’t care.
