I paid 1.45 pounds (about $3) just to see how the things works.
It’s a cool selling model, I must agree.

Of course, not everyone can afford to do this (except big bands who have the money to setup the infrastructure).

Expect to see new business ventures to emulate this model for small time bands.

I would pay 30$ for a good album (from artists I like) its gives them more of an incentive to make better music (and spend cash on producers/studios).

The thing with me though is that I appreciate music more when I pay for it. Because I paid for that album I HAVE to listen to it or else my money would have gone to waste. Same applies in videogames for example, I used to buy pirated games for KD1 and play them once and forget about them. Now I pay KD20, I get the original and I spend 2 weeks playing the fuck out of it until I finish it so I could get my moneys worth.

Also its not like I am paying 1000$ for an album, its only $10.

Good call Mark.
$10 looks like a very fair price to me. I think most people will pay between $5 to $10. I would have downloaded it, but it’s not my type of music.
BTW, I heard that NIN may go for a similar model soon, as they too are free from any contracts and are now free agents.
I am sure they will be closely monitoring the success of this experiment.
But then again, this is something unique so everyone is looking to see where this is going.
I hope they succeed, as it will mean lower cost to us for our music.

And for those who are complaining why you have to pay for something that is available for free:
1. It’s illegal - doh.
2. We are paying for the hard work put in by the artists so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labor, and be able to afford a personal jet and a $50 million mansion.

why would you pay for something you can get easier for free? it doesn’t make sense really because you’re not even getting a cd with a cover you’re getting an mp3 files which you can get in any torrents sites the same day the album released , if you wanna support the band go to there concerts or buy there t-shirts or hell even buy there real albums in music stores but downloading mp3s for a fee it just sounds stupid , I MEAN IT’S RIGHT THERE FOR FREE!!! WHY!

I think they will make a fairly good deal of money. Fans will pay properly while non fans will pay little. Still since there is no record label involved they should rake in more money since it all goes into their pockets.
