  2. 2. Mark | August 12th, 2007 at 12:41 pm

There mum is from Texas and they are there studying now. One of the sisters is a boxer also. I was showing this video so you could check out their voices not faces.

    So what was funny again?

  3. 3. Erzulie | August 12th, 2007 at 12:55 pm

*bumps Mark out of the way*

sadkljcn: Actually, if you click on the “Tags” option (in the actual YouTube page the video is displayed in) after clicking on the video Mark has placed on his blog, you will see the girls’ names. They are Kuwaiti (and as Mark said, their mom is from Texas) and they have one of the most amazing, powerful voices I have heard.

  10. 10. Kent | August 12th, 2007 at 5:45 pm

Very nice indeed. Made my day here in Kuwait, thanks Mark

  11. 11. Monotheist | August 12th, 2007 at 5:54 pm

Wow. Those practically AMERICAN girls get full rights to Kuwaiti citizenship and everything it entails, and my friend who has a Kuwaiti mother and an Egyptian father, spent his entire life in Kuwait, speaks nothing but Kuwaiti, gets absolutely nothing. Nice.

  12. 12. the second one | August 12th, 2007 at 6:49 pm

    nothing kuwaiti bout them… proof?

  13. 13. Mark desouza | August 12th, 2007 at 9:38 pm

I feel you Monotheist. This is coming from a kuwaiti-born and raised that has no right to call himself kuwaiti.

These girls are sell outs to their nation. lol.

  14. 14. Adam | August 12th, 2007 at 11:58 pm

oh plz… its no new news… non kuwaiti father means no citizenship for u…

  15. 15. Mark desouza | August 13th, 2007 at 2:56 am

In that case, I think there should be a reciprocal law out here in the states. I dont think Arab nations that follow this practice should be given citizenship.

  16. 16. Faisal | August 13th, 2007 at 3:10 am

Kuwaiti singing US Anthem! Is it just me who sees the contradiction in this?

  17. 17. Mark desouza | August 13th, 2007 at 4:10 am

Faisal, that is why I called them “sell outs” lol

  18. 18. Adam | August 13th, 2007 at 8:26 am

why is their a contradiction… are guys really that stupid?
if any national sings the kuwaiti national anthem does that call them a sell out?
rashid il majid sang national songs for kuwait, does that make him a sell out? hes saudi..
kuwait and the states have no political problems with one another, and if kuwaiti girls want to demonstrate their talents by singing a national anthem, i dont see why not. Dont like it? … ask me if i care?

  19. 19. battery operated | August 13th, 2007 at 8:59 am

YEAH SELL OUTS!!! WOO HOOO!!!! DAMN THEM TO HELL!
Yet if you go to Sultan, Co-ops, Restos, etc all you see (mostly) are american foods??? what the hell is that? pathetic.. u guys complaining dont think that much do you.

  20. 20. M | August 13th, 2007 at 9:18 am

so what they sang the American Anthem, they are half Americans. they could do what ever they want.

  21. 21. Erzulie | August 13th, 2007 at 10:07 am

I don’t think there would be so much drama if the twins had sang, for example’s sake, Austria’s national anthem.

I just find it amusing to see a good number of people steering the topic at hand - the twin’s actual talent - into something political. The other trend that narrow-minded people usually fall into is linking the subject to religion.

    People, grow up.

  22. 22. Я. | August 13th, 2007 at 1:06 pm

I was forced to pledge allegiance to the U.S. flag back when i went to school there (elementary). After dad talked to the principal, I was excused from it.

And excused from Sunday School along with the morning chapel service (went to a catholic school). So they’re quite alright with it.

So it’s not a matter of being a foreigner to sing the anthem..who cares? It’s just a song.

The girls like to sing, they put it to good use. It’s like raging at Bin Laden’s niece for showing up on GQ’s cover & being a singer.

Ditto Erzulie: Go grow a brain then come back.

  23. 23. Mark desouza | August 13th, 2007 at 2:28 pm

Good points. I forgot that they were half American. And Adam..no one asked if we cared about your opinion :)

But yeah, you guys are right..i guess it is okay to sing the American national anthem. I guess they couldnt find any American in ASK who was better at singing it. Plus they are half American, so I guess it is okay.

  24. 24. Boba | August 13th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

I don’t see a problem here. Borat sang the US national anthem, and he’s from Kazakhstan :p

  25. 25. Mark d | August 13th, 2007 at 4:23 pm

    lol..good one Boba.

Now let me ask this, as I am real curious about the answer. Would it be acceptable to have an Indian sing the kuwaiti national anthem at a public event?

  26. 26. jajaja | August 13th, 2007 at 8:45 pm

the chick on the back has a nice figure

  27. 27. Q80Warlock | August 13th, 2007 at 8:49 pm

I was waiting for the part where they would sing “9aboo7a `7a6abha na9eeb !”

    ^_^

  28. 28. Chroma-Trauma | August 13th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

    Nothing special about them..

  29. 29. Faisal | August 13th, 2007 at 11:58 pm

Those of you who don’t see a problem or contradiction here are either:

    a- Expats
b- People with national identity crisis

If u fit in the profile, Its ok, I don’t expect u to get my point

  30. 30. 3baid | August 14th, 2007 at 2:22 am

    Q80Warlock, right on!

  31. 31. Adam | August 14th, 2007 at 4:18 am

    Mark desouza :
    grow some nuts

  32. 32. Mark desouza | August 14th, 2007 at 4:22 am

    Umm..great comeback.

  33. 33. Я. | August 14th, 2007 at 1:28 pm

Faisal: The military band that plays the Kuwaiti national anthem for the Amir & delegates are Egyptians. See any contradictions there?

    It doesn’t matter.

  34. 34. Faisal | August 14th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

    No contradiction.

The band is not on the center stage; it is the background while the delegates are the focus of the ceremony.

The American girls shown here were the main event and are in the center stage glorifying and singing praise to the states.

  35. 35. Mark d | August 14th, 2007 at 4:22 pm

Once again I ask….what if there were a bunch of Indians singers singing the kuwaiti national anthem before a big event like a football game in kuwait?

  36. 36. mushroom | August 14th, 2007 at 4:41 pm

glorifying and singing PRAISE to the states?
kind sir, you should be proud of your fellow kuwaitis to have the chance and show their God-given talents. I would be delighted to see one of my countrymen do the same. where is the harm in that?

  37. 37. Anonymous | August 14th, 2007 at 6:01 pm

Why are you even debating this? Whats the point?

  38. 38. Q80Warlock | August 14th, 2007 at 9:48 pm

    Я.
Military band are not egyptians !! who gave you that idea.

  39. 39. Mark desouza | August 15th, 2007 at 12:32 am

Dont the band members catch random pigeons and cook them after finishing the anthem?

  40. 40. Feras | August 15th, 2007 at 2:22 pm

Ok, so just by the tags, aiysha sharifa alzaabi, in that order, they are automatically kuwaiti girls graduated from ASK in class of 2003, who’s mother is from San Antonio Texas…

Damn someone has some r34l g00d tag reading skillz..

    /me needs some more training

  41. 41. Faisal | August 16th, 2007 at 2:24 am

mushroom: They are not fellow Kuwaitis. they’re two very talented Americans singing their national anthem with pride, which all of us should.

  42. 42. Mark desouza | August 16th, 2007 at 2:10 pm

Then maybe the tag should say “American” . They can either be American or Kuwaiti. I dont know..maybe that is how Kuwait is different.

When I am in India, they dont consider me India, as I was raised my whole life in Kuwait and then lived in the States.

Either way, those girls do have great voices!

  43. 43. Nina | September 5th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

The Girls r Kuwaiti, their mom is from San Antonio Texas (i know the mom and the girls very well) so they’re there continuing their education. one of them actually wants to persue a career in singing.

  44. 45. Drunk_n_Gorgeous | October 14th, 2007 at 10:52 am

Great voices! AMAZING On-stage charisma. Talented, I’d say. Good on them!

  45. 46. Omar | October 16th, 2007 at 8:28 pm

These girls are the most amazing people you will ever meet. They are beautiful and have good hearts, and they can really sing. Just because you cant do that, dont be jelous. They are doing nothing wrong…youre just hating….
