Where the Hell is Matt? In Kuwait!

Matt Harding became famous by accident awhile back when a video of him dancing in front of landmarks in different countries became an overnight success. Now Matt is back with a new video thats been in the making for over a year. This time around he visited and danced in 42 different countries and one them was Kuwait. Its a really cool video thats sure to give you goosebumps. [YouTube]

Thanks Shab!

Update: Here is a link to Matt’s journal when he was in Kuwait. I honestly thought he was a nice guy but after reading his journal I now think he’s a jerk. Watching the video above you get a feeling of world unity and peace but then when you find out the kind of person Matt really is it suddenly makes sense why the world is at war. [Link]

    I love him! Wow!

He could have chosen a “nicer looking” and more well-maintained monument. :p

Does anyone know what the song used in the video was? It’s beautiful!

    Cool video!

@The Archer: The song is called “Stream of Life”. Did a quick search on Google for it but could only find some weird techno version of it.

Seen this guy years ago, loved his original videos.

Its not difficult to go to israel and then come to kuwait. just tell the passport control people in israel not to stamp your passport, same if you are American and going to Cuba, you tell them not to stamp your passport. Instead they give you like a special card which they stamp on.

the idea is cool, but the guy is monumentally anal, i found his remarks offensive esp comparing practising islam to a obsessive compulsive disorder, the perfect ending to his visit should have been a guy in a short disha and long beard beating him up. Im not muslim and im offended. how can anyone who is a muslim think this guy is cool!

  29. 29. uturn | June 22nd, 2008 at 3:12 am

I read more into the rest of his journals. He has a thing against Arabs/Muslim I tell you. Look at this entry from his Beirut report, he comments on a street ad for The Lebanese American school which says that they invented the alphabets and know how best to teach it:

“Sums up how far Arab culture has fallen better than I ever could. That’s right, fellas, you invented the alphabet. That was what, 3500 years ago? What’ve you come up with lately? …suicide bombing doesn’t count. Technically, you’ve gotta give that to the Japanese.”

You’d think he’s just trying to be funny, but wait it doesn’t stop:

“Istanbul was a welcome change. Still Muslim, but the friendly kind.”

And another targeting Middle eastern women:

“Moderation seems like a difficult concept for the Middle East. No sooner are the veils lifted and beards shaven than out comes the skank parade. If it’s not Muhammad they worship, it’s Kevin Federline.”

His blog experience was great. I’m at a loss to know why people took offense? I can’t see anything he said which wasn’t a fair comment for a new visitor to the country. Well written.

You people and your skewed perceptions.

He was here for a day or two, traveling completely alone.

Of course he will have those kinds of views about this country.

  41. 41. Jim Sefton | June 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 pm

My observations (having read the comments below his blog post):

    1. Considering the amount of travelling he has done, he is remarkably ininformed about other cultures.

    2. Despite the amount of distrespectful crap he spouted about Kuwait and it’s people, there were a remarkable number of people willing to host him on his next visit and change his mind. That speaks volumes about the REAL people of Kuwait, IMHO.

  42. 42. no3ik | June 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 pm

    talk about generalizing!
not to mention .. how judgmental he is!

    very sad.

  43. 43. Realist | June 22nd, 2008 at 1:40 pm

I’ll give him a nice pole to dance around with.

  44. 44. Aliman | June 22nd, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Well Now i know who’s to blame for spreading the “Im-a-retarded lumberjack-swinging-Dance” all oevr the world!!!!
You would think that someone who was planning to do a video of themselves dancing all over the world would try and
    1 Pick a better dance
    2 Be a better dancer
    3 PICK A BETTER DANCE!!!!!!!

ohh that is unless he WANTS to look like a fool

ladies & gentlemen …. chill out . He is just a guy with a cool idea and he came here and made his observation , made his judgment ( in a wrong way ) . now he’s off to dance in other country or back to his Xbox gaming in the US !

Why we have to Give a *%&# About what He thinks about Kuwait and what women wear here !!! I live here and i Like it .

I enjoyed the video and the music and how people were Happy dancing with him .

I don’t usually use bad words when i write comments.

Still after reading through his blog all i can say hes an asshole, i was porn in kuwait and stayed there for 10 great years of my life, then moved to iraq for a year after the war then moved to palestine for 2 years then moved to jordan for 12 years and now in UAE and u know what, kuwait is the only place i dream of and the only place i truly love.

so with all respect to the owner and readers of this blog.
xxxxxxxxxxxxx to that xxxxxx who doesnt know a xxxx.

  49. 49. PhilM | June 22nd, 2008 at 6:16 pm

Mark lighten up. perhaps living there for so long you’ve lost your sense of humour too. Gulf Arabs are a stuck up lot. They can never laugh at themselves. only humour they get is at the expense of poor syedi Egyptians or Asians.

    pls dont be an apologetic.

  50. 50. shabo | June 22nd, 2008 at 7:40 pm

WOW! you all have to really calm down..

He has been to damn near every country in the world and probably could not communicate with people most of the time. The guy has obviously become an elitist. What good comes out of that? NOTHING! But he was here for only a short period of time and saw NOTHING! I mean it aint exactly Vegas when you go hang out under the water towers than a mall! Im not saying anything negative bout this place ..but im not shocked by what he said under HIS circumstances…everybody go to the bathroom ..open up that mirror..and pop a freaking CHILL pill!! enough ranting..thank you

Lool I don’t get why people still think AMERICANS are smart. LOOL we got used to them saying this stuff. Its used to get to me before but know its like questioning why the dog barks. Fact, some American are like that. if you read his journal, hes kinda jealous. He prefers poor countries. does he enjoy people living in poverty. Thats says alot about him.

  53. 53. Varma | June 23rd, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Abt the question how he has been to Israel and Kuwait, Israel has a option of not having its stamps on the passport. You can have all the entry and exit stamps on the visa alone. This is for guys who wants to travel countries boycotting Israel.

  54. 55. radiant guy | June 26th, 2008 at 11:33 am

  55. 56. fyidude | June 26th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

  56. 57. Khaled | July 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm

Another typical ignorant and it doesn’t have to be one nationality … and Arabs did invent back in the good old days. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrolabe for example :)

  57. 58. kuwiati | July 11th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

Typical of us, we do not accept criticism, What he said is good, and correct. We should be more welcoming. The Indian driver expressed his feelings: isn’t based on the way we treat expats.

  58. 59. Sam | September 25th, 2008 at 12:14 pm

He might have came off as a jerk, but he wasn’t 100% wrong either. Alot of it was inflated, but it still had a basis in fact.
