Broken Card
Well for some reason today my credit card just stopped working. It didn’t get canceled or anything of the sort, machines just don’t read the card anymore. I think the chip on my credit card got damaged somehow. Now I have to walk around with cash, sucks!

Mark, after trying it one more time call +965 2466655 they can actually see if the swipe went through or not. Maybe it’s temporarily frozen on suspicion of fraud or something of that sort. Just call and see.

myk thanks but the card isn’t frozen, its just not being read by the machine. The machine keeps telling me to remove and reinsert card, the chip is messed up.

How much longer are you staying? I can arrange to send you a replacement credit card which you can receive from NBK at Portman Square by Tuesday.

thanks myk thats very helpful but I am coming back saturday so its not that big a deal.
by the way it worked tonight at the movie theater, they have the swipe machine. the card wont work on any machine that requires the chip.

mark,, happened to me before.. One lady at a store did something that can get it to work. put plastic bag or thin paper around the card (covering the magnetic strip) while sliding it on the machine and it will worked. You still have to do it everytime though.

i have an NBK card,, next week i’ll cancel it and get a gulf bank card

I dont think it has to do with NBK, i think somehow my chip got damaged while in my wallet.

What would be ultra cool if it gets rejected after the lady swipes it, put it in your pants, do the jingle dance, pull it out and tell her to try again..
