Dubai after one day
Mobile phone prices are like the same price as Kuwait. Rent is wayyyyy more expensive. They don’t build one building, they build them in large clusters all at once. Drivers are worst then Kuwait. Girls are all like half naked. Kuwait is greener. Emirates mall is like Marina Mall times ten. They have larger variety of restaurants. Finally, consumers are not treated like idiots, they are valued.

lol - that’s because Kuwait needs somewhere worthwhile to invest it’s money. It clearly doesn’t want to invest it in… err… Kuwait.

I was telling you.. when they have been around for a while the phones become the same price, but when its new Dubai is ALOT cheaper! M600i was 190 KD when it first came out in Kuwait but it was 140KD when I was there back in July!

Toxy: I think you meant Marina mall will have a competitor. Emirates mall is at least double The Evenues.
11. Mark | October 18th, 2006 at 11:23 am
actually by car it takes longer to drive from one side of avenues to the other then emirates mall, around twice as long going at a speed of around 100km/hour.
this of course is a rough estimate hehe

Im sure the Avenues mall will be mostly Al shayaa stuff which is available in every other mall in Kuwait. Wohoooo can’t wait.. :ss
13. S | October 18th, 2006 at 12:17 pm
Im hoping the Avenues will be different than all the other malls here.. But belive me just like any other mall, it starts out nice and good then people invade it and its shit..
And interesting things you said abotu UAE i didnt think it was like that. with all the ads about it and stuff i figured it was really nice and different from here..

One month ago I was in Dubai.
Some phones are cheaper in Kuwait and other phones are cheaper in Dubai.
I agree with you they are like building another Dubai now with new malls, hotels they just can’t stop.
Drivers are way worse than the ones in Kuwait and the traffic congestion is worse than Kuwait.
The girls there are from all around the world, all the tastes, it is an international cuisine. Russians rock!!
Ibn batoota is the greatest mall there, I liked the peaceful design of Merchiato in Jumeira.

dubai has the image we dont have , plus ur comparing dubai to a country , if u compare UAE to Kuwait .. thats diffrent, cause Sharja is way worse and its such a boring place .

Who knows.. The Avenues just might become the next coolest ‘Mall-Rat’ hangout… Move over Salmiya… Rabiya’s here!

Speaking of phones, the Sony Ericsson phone Nat wanted is out here…you should get it for her if she hasn’t gotten it yet.
And I’m not so sure about the customers being valued part. Customer service still has a loooong way to go here.

I live really close to the avenues mall and well all i can say is woohoo! hmm the most intersting for me would be Carrefour supermarket - hope it won’t have rip off prices!
hmm well what’s constructed now is pretty large but after the current construction theres this really really long wall barrier advertising the avenues i wonder if they’ll be constructing anything behind that - then it would be huge

I hated the customer service in Dubai. Last time I was there, I had the misfortune of being there at the same time a US Navy ship was.
So when I was seriously looking at expensive watches, they weren’t taking me seriously and gave me zero service.
In Kuwait, I’ve never really had an issue with service.

Well I lived in Dubai 11 years. Used to be wonderful place. I still go almost every month and it’s become a jungle, sort of like the Nasdaq at 5,000 if you know what I mean… And the service is the worst in the world. I was there for Eid and restaurants and shops were just about kicking us around. In Lebanon we call it Batar. Still despite all the crap going on there, what I really miss about it is the things to do other than the malls, none of which exists in Kuwait. From the ‘free’ wonderful parks like creek park or zaabeel park, acres of grass (Is there no park for god’s sake in Kuwait?), to the pubs and restaurants with the wonderful atmosphere.
