easyHotel
Has anyone stayed at an easyHotel before? easyHotel is a no frills super budget hotel. I am going to London next month for 4 nights and I am looking for a cheap place to stay. The hotel I usually stay in costs around 130 pounds a night and isn’t anything special at all. I was checking out tripadvisor.com for other hotels in the area and I came across easyHotel in Paddington. It doesn’t have a closet, or a desk, or a phone, or Internet, or a safe but the room does have a double bed, window (there is cheaper option without one), and a cozy looking bathroom thats a size of a plane bathroom. The price for 4 nights comes out to 168 pounds. There is a flat screen TV but to use it I need to rent a remote which goes for 15 pounds for 5 days. House keeping is another 10 pounds. Reviews are all positive and since its in Paddington its 15 minutes from the airport via Heathrow Express so it seems practical. Still though, not too sure if I should go for it or not, should be an interesting experience if I do. They are opening up in Dubai next year which should be a big hit.
Update: Just booked a standard room with a window and a double sized bed for four nights. Total price with tax KD79. Thats just an extremely good deal. Makes London more affordable specially with the special offers like the one British Airways had, KD150 Kuwait – London Kuwait. Also found out they do have internet, 10 pounds for 24 hours and an extra towel is 1 pound. They also can store my bags, 5 pounds for 24 hours for up to 3 items. Thats perfect cuz last day my checkout is 11AM but my flight is in the evening so I can just store my bags with them while I shop. Early check in is also available for only 15 pounds. (1KD = 2.4 pounds)

Not sure why you’d want to stay at a discount hotel in January. It’s bargain month for London (relatively speaking of course).
No idea what easyHotels are like, but if they’re anything like easyJet, then you get what you pay for. Personally though, there is no way I’d stay in a hotel decked out from top to bottom in orange, but hey, each to their own.

this hotel is for soho prostitutes and one night business men getting their quick fix.

try Travelodge.co.uk
Remember that London is going to be so cold. Make sure that the rooms have a heating system.

I know of easyHotel but never stayed in one. I’ve stayed at many wonderful Bed & Breakfast places in London over the years. Lovely homey atmosphere, total privacy, various budget ranges, fantastic home cooked breakfast. I love the UK B&B experience.

Paddington is IN london. Its takes around 14 minutes by underground to get to oxford circus or I can just walk to marble arch which is at the beginning of oxford street so i dont know what the hell u r talking about.

“CHEAP” you can & should afford a different place you cheapskate. ME, i usually stay @ the J. W. Marriott by the West India Quay for the close in & excellent night life & shopping, no it’s not cheep but i’m in London.. or a hotel by the Marble Arch. The West India Quay location has everything, very near like banking, movie theater, all sorts of shopping including grocery & liquor store, pub’s & the all important tube..Bon Voyage
25. Mark | December 20th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Some of you are missing the point. I am not looking for the cheapest hotel in London, I am very picky where I stay, I found hotels that cost double or triple the price of easyHotel and I wouldn’t stay there if they went for half as much as easyHotel.
The aim of this is to see how cheap can a trip to London be. My ticket with British Airways cost me KD150 (Kuwait – London – Kuwait) since they had like special prices and my hotel room is costing me KD79 for 4 nights. This makes London a much more affordable place to visit then paying the regular BA rate of around KD240 for a ticket and another KD240 for my hotel stay.
easyHotel is cheap but its not a crappy hotel
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d1172086-Reviews-EasyHotel_Paddington_London-London_England.html
it opened up in October which means the hotel is really new and everything inside should be in excellent condition. All reviews were very positive with the only downside being the size of the rooms. There are only 43 rooms in the hotel and to get into the hotel u need to either be buzzed in or you come in using your room card so it makes it safe and not very crowded.
In the end I am going to London for a long weekend not a honey moon or a trip with the family. The only requirement I need from a hotel is it to be clean, safe, modern looking and in a good location. Thats all and hopefully easyHotel will turn out great. If not I can always check in to another hotel.

Mark;
Kudos to you for trying to do something different for a change. It’s sweet to see people so concerned, and going as far as calling you a cheapskate for trying to find a good rate at an OK hotel so that you have a place to spend the night. As is any holiday destination – it’s about what you do outdoors that counts.
Shame really. If it weren’t for people like you (and possibly others, including me), Al Jazeera would’ve never been born. Or EasyJet, or Wataniya Airways, or….
27. Mark | December 20th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Thanks, FYI, Wataniya Airways is a premium airline not an economy one

31. wi-fi | December 20th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
It would be a great idea if jazeera airways followed easyjet with the hotels ..
my advice to you is dont miss to book ticket from now for any arsenal – chelsea games .. its somthing MUST be done once it least if you are football fan .
the hotel seems nice .. u only will use it to sleep coz most of the time you will be out i guess and double check about the heating system coz its freezing there .. is it true the hotel in soho street ?? :)
u didnt mention why you are going .. is it for related to your job ?
32. wi-fi | December 20th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
oh and how did you get the ticket for 150 kd ?!
33. sfsa78 | December 20th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Wi-fi…
I arrived in London three days ago and payed british airways something like kd320(inclusive of all taxes). I always hear about these good deals.. But when I go looking for them, theyre non existent.
Klm was cheapest at kd240.
34. Mark | December 20th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I am going to shop and just relax a bit, definitely NOT work related.
I found out from one of the local blogs here about an offer with BA so I checked and tickets were for KD150 with tax and everything so I booked two.
35. skip town | December 20th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
OKAY, good reasoning. i’m waiting for your de-briefing when you get back. & BTW, my contacts @ Wataniya Airways is hiring right now so it’s a good opportunity to get in on the ground floor & grow with the company, theres lot of jobs in all areas. happy holidays to everyone who celebrates.

“merry christmas” and not “happy holidays”… A weekend is a holiday…
first the Americans corrupt the English language, now theyre changing merry christmas into happy holiday… I mean WTF??!?!!
38. ss | December 21st, 2008 at 6:19 pm
@ sfsa78: a weekend is NOT a holiday. I guess u must be British educated (judging from the way you pick on American English) so I will copy and paste the Cambridge dictionary’s definition of the term ‘holiday’ for you:
“1 a time, often one or two weeks, when someone does not go to work or school but is free to do what they want, such as travel or relax:
2 an official day when you do not have to go to work or school”
I never correct people’s English in these comments, but if you plan to play the role of the English Police at least get your arguments straight.
Oh and it’s not just the Americans, who for the sake of being politically correct, have opt to use the term “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry Christmas, the Brits do so as well.
39. Think-Big | December 22nd, 2008 at 8:33 am
I’m waiting it to open in Dubai .. we need sometimes something like that, we call it in Kuwaiti “for Tagzora” :p
40. sfsa78 | December 23rd, 2008 at 7:09 am
ss…
I will repeat myself.. Its merry christmas and not happy holidays!!
it is a well known fact that the American-English is a corrupt form of the English language..full stop! End of discussion! (or as the yanks say “period”).
