Laptop Sleeves

WaterField Sleeve
My favorite laptop sleeve is made by WaterField Designs. It’s the most important accessory for my laptop and I’ve had mine since 2001. Back then I had an Apple iBook and I ordered the sleeve with a Vertigo bag from WaterField and I still use them today. Best of all both the sleeve and bag still look brand new, like I had purchased them yesterday. Thats because they are so well made, all of WaterField’s stuff is hand made in San Francisco. I just ordered another sleeve for Nat’s new laptop and thought I should post about how good their products are. [Link]

i still can’t understand why someone would want a laptop sleeve. what benefit do you get from it? its not protecting the laptop in anyway whatsoever, its not making it any easier to carry the laptop around, and beside having the laptop in it, its useless.

actually its all about protecting the laptop. This Waterfield sleeve protects the laptop with like a spungy rubbery foam from all sides. That way you can drop it into any bag and know that your laptop is safe.

I have an IBM R61, could someone show me how to know what are its specs (either 15.4 or 14.1 screen) and the type of battery (4, 6, 7 or 9 cell)?

Is there a button or function on the laptop that allows to know such stuff?

    Thanks

  5. Mark says:

You could measure the screen. you measure from top left corner to bottom right.

I have those Waterfield Designs sleeves too and my iBook rattled all across Africa in a Toyota Hilux on dirt roads and didn’t suffer one bit in its rubbery sleeve. I bought a new Waterfield Designs sleeve for my new MacBook. They are really good.

It looks nice, but don’t you think it’s too feminine for a man to carry it?

  9. Mark says:

Lamyaa you aren’t supposed to carry the sleeve like a purse, its just meant to offer your laptop protection when you throw it into your bag.

I think if you carry a fancy messenger bag that isn’t laptop friendly, a sleeve would be a good idea. Otherwise, just get a prober laptop back bag.

+1 on WF and their bags. Top of the line stuff, and very, very durable. I’m going to order one in a few days as well, as my trusty Kenneth Cole bag is starting to show its age.

+2 on the WF bags. I live by them. Built unbelievably well and highly functional and cool looking. Most excellent customer service I’ve ever come across as well. Nice people there.

  14. Me says:

Nice ! Can i find them here in Kuwait ?

  15. Burhan says:

They are custom order items; I doubt you will find any new for sale in Kuwait. Maybe a used one; but only a fool would let go for a WF bag.

  16. Burly7 says:

    Hi Me,

You can’t buy them in Kuwait, but they ship worldwide so you can get them online. Pretty reasonable rates given the quality.
