My lift is installed!

Wrangler TJ Lift

Just picked up my Wrangler, it looks really great and I love how it turned out. Now I need to go do some steering alignment in Shuwaikh!

hmm doesn’t look very lifted.. I thought it would be higher.

  2. Venkatesh says:

Do you really like black rim? Grey would be nice to see!

  3. kwt23 says:

Paint Job Mark? Maybe dark green? Good job , looking nice ;)

  4. Stafa says:

    Doesn’t look very lifted =S I can hardly see a lift lol…

  5. Nobu says:

Tell us how the new tires affect fuel consumption. I heard bigger tires = less fuel. Also, the noise factor. Is the Jeep more or less noisy?

  6. Adrenaline says:

I might be wrong but now that I see the size of the tires and the rims, it seams u won’t be able to drive it with speed over 80km/h … it looks fine offrode but also at low speeds.
    take ur time testing it

  7. well says:

the tires will pose a problem you might get a ticket i would check if they are legal. ( the stick out the sides )

  8. The Stallion says:

WOW! Perfect! Just about 4″ if not a little more! Great choice in wheels too! We need another session of wheeling now!

  9. Baa3 says:

First of all, congrats its looking good. Second, I suggest you start searching for a manual transmission replacement as your current automatic (I’m assuming its an automatic) will start to give soon.

I can’t tell from the picture, but did you get the replica fenders or the originals? They tend to get loose in a while too so pay attention to that because it’l surprise you when it goes flying down the road hitting another car, you don’t want to be in that mess.

    All the best.

  10. HeartBeat says:

    very nice and congratulations!

but did u ask if this is ok with the people at traffic department? would it pass ok when you go to renew your traffic registration? You probably need to start finding Wasta!

  11. The Archer says:

    Congrats Mark ;)

  12. Baa3 says:

4 inches are legal, but they’re always that one cop that doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.

  13. Mark says:

The Jeep has a 2.5inch suspension lift and a 1.25inch body lift for a combined total of 3.75inch. Any more than that and I would have to change a whole bunch of things. The lift is perfect for 33inch tires.

I was worried that the acceleration would suffer because of 3.77 gearing but i didn’t notice a difference. maybe top speed is effected a bit but i don’t speed in the wrangler over 120 anyways.

You are not supposed to see the suspension parts of the lift, if you could see them it would mean the wheels are too small.

To give you an idea of how high the car is now, if it wasn’t for the side steps i would have to jump up into the car. With slightly tight jeans I am having difficulty climbing up. Driving on the road to shuwaikh there was only one car that was actually higher than mine but that was a pick up truck with a lift installed. The Wrangler is now higher than an FJ, Yukon, Pajero and Land Cruiser.

From the ground to the bottom of the door I think its around 80-100cm high up. Need to measure it still.

Nobu: The wrangler isn’t a green car. Fuel consumption is going to be worse now because of the larger heavier tires. The tires aren’t full Mud Terrain so the sound is very normal.

Adrenaline: I didn’t know any difference in the speed.

Well: My set up is currently illegal because my tires ARE sticking out. I am ordering wider fenders.

Stallion: I was talking to Marzouq, we need to arrange an offroad trip i mean just count how many jeeps are the diwaniya. But this time we go to rocky mutlaa

Baa3: Haven’t heard of anyone having any trouble with the transmission. The wranglers transmissions are known to be over kill for the jeep. Usually its the rear differential the goes bad but I’ve got Dana 44’s in the rear which are strong enough to run 35 inch tires. Also the fenders are stock, they are not stuck to the car they are screwed into the car so they won’t flap away.

HeartBeat: I heard as long as the tires aren’t sticking out its fine.

  14. M. Hussain says:

I agree with Venkatesh, Grey rims would like much prettier.

  15. Mark says:

yeah i dont think so, black rims look wayyy nicer. this isn’t a sports car in which case graphite colored rims would look cool, its a Jeep and these are steel rims not aluminum so grey rims would loook tacky and out of place. i actually found some tefal coated aluminum rims and was planning to get them but in the end went with black after checking out some pictures online.

  16. Mr.pedro says:

Mark 1st of all congrats on this Mean off roader 2nd i love how it turned out and the tire plus lift combination is so right and tight anytime you thinking off an upgrade Add some mean beadlock wheels ;)

    Cheers…!!

  17. Mark says:

    are beadlock wheels legal here?

  18. lensman says:

Hey Mark, Congrats on the new look for your jeep. Love the lift. Looks great!

and yeah the beadlocks would look great too…

  19. Baa3 says:

The rear end is very likely going to give you some trouble too, but I’ve had a lot of experience with these wranglers and I wouldn’t put any money on that tranny either, just giving you a heads up.
About your fenders, at a first look they appeared to be aftermarket because they’re black, but yeah your tires do appear to be sticking out. I still suggest that you properly inspect your new fenders every once in a while to avoid any mishaps. Good luck.

I would have done a 4 inch lift and forgotten all about that body lift, but its your ride and your choice, enjoy.

  20. Mark says:

I’ve been surfing the jeep forums for 2 years now and not once have i herd of any Dana 44 going bad nor of any transmission going bad because of 33inch tires. I’ve also haven’t heard of any fenders falling off, thats actually pretty funny. Its not like they are glued onto cars, the fender has like 6 or 8 screws holding it into place.

About doing a 4inch lift with the body lift its not as easy as it sounds. the 4inch lift is much more expensive and involves changing and upgrading a lot more parts. combining a body lift with a suspension lift avoids that problem. now if i was doing any proper rock crawling it might have been an option to consider but for kuwaits sand dunes and mutlaa this is more than enough. its a very capable lift kit and the setup from DPG is very popular among TJ crawlers in the states.

  21. Mark says:

Check this link out. Near the bottom it shows you the size of the suspension lift and what it involves.
    http://jeep.us41.org/wheels/index.html

After 2-2.5″ all hell breaks loose lol

  22. Baa3 says:

Just giving you a heads up lol, I never said take it as something holy. I’m simply sharing my experiences with you and what I know about Wranglers.

And about the Dana 44, I didn’t read your post correctly the first time, I thought you were saying that you were going to upgrade to Dana 44s, my bad there. You’ve got a reliable rear end, just keep it well lubricated (no pun intended).

  23. Mark says:

yeah i wasn’t planning on getting THAT intimate with the car lol

  24. Myk says:

Beautiful job mark, any chance of selling? Seriously.

And about the fuel consumption and how the car isn’t ‘green’, you can buy the energy efficient light bulbs that you posted about earlier, to clear your concious :p I think it’ll even out this way.

  25. Mr.pedro says:

Mark Beadlocks are Legal in Kuwait will order my set from champion bead locks after my vacation i will make sure i finish my project on the FJ b4 January…

    http://www.cwibeadlock.com/

  26. The Stallion says:

I need to get 33s now and I might even get a set of bedlocks cause they sure look amazing and from what I hear are great when it comes to performance and durability! I second the whole off-roading expedition especially if we make it a camping trip as well!

  27. Mr.pedro says:

Dude we really Need to arrange a 4×4 trip this winter or spring

Beadlock wheels are amazing and (cheap) i loved the Rock crushers they LOOK MEAN and the different color sure make you look customized Good luck with every one going with a Set

  28. souliman says:

mark u should consider the speed change… since its lifted and has bigger tires, your speedo will say 120 but ur accually driving 130 something… something to kep in mind… and about the preformance.. bigger tires/wheels will lower your acceleration but adds the top speed… all in all gr8 lookin truck… :D

  29. Mark says:

yup i know thats why i will be changing my speedo gear, costs like $30 and its do it yourself easy

  30. abdullah says:

guys i got a 4-door jk and im gonna put a 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires…so my question is can i drive it without changing anything after getting my jk lifted ?

  31. Baa3 says:

    What’s a jk?

  32. abdullah says:

    wrangler yj (1987-1995)
    wrangler tj (1996-2006)
    wrangler jk (2007-present)

so like i said can i lift it and use the 35 inch tires without changing anything (stock) !?

  33. The Stallion says:

Abdullah : I am a Land Cruiser driver and in order for me to properly take use of 35 tires I have to lift it up and get it re-geared! Since you are lifting by 4″ that should do it but check if you need to change your Rack and Pinon gears!

  34. Mark says:

If you had a TJ you would need to upgrade your brakes also since they would be useless. Sign up at http://www.jeepforums.com and post your questions in the JK section. They would be able to tell you exactly what you need. And don’t forget, once you do the lift send me pics!

  35. The Stallion says:

Edit my comment (Number 34) to Ring and Pinion and not Rack and Pinon!

  36. abdullah says:

thnx stallion and mark…i just signed up at the form and inshala they will answer me

sure inshala when everything is done on my jk im gonna send u the pics ;)

  37. MYK says:

Seriously Mark, would you consider selling it or trading with an H3 Hummer? What model is your wrangler?

  38. The Stallion says:

No offense MYK, but an H3? If mark was to trade this Jeep he should do it with an H1! H2 and H3 aren’t worth it! :P

  39. Mark says:

lol i was thinking the same thing, i am not a fan of H3’s
but seriously I am not interested in selling my wrangler. i mean the only other jeep i would be interested in is a G55 and I would be willing to trade for that :D

  40. MYK says:

The Stallion; thanks but I think it’s Mark’s call.

  41. MYK says:

LOL at Mark, mabrook on the lift it looks amazing mashallah.

BTW, even if you get offered a G55; hold out for a G63 :)

  42. Kevin says:

Nice. I’m in the process now of buying a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. I like the black rims. They look great with the grey paint.

  43. Nat says:

MYK what Mark forgot to mention was that the wrangler is MY car, hehe. So what’s the color of your H3?:)

  44. Dylan says:

Naa thats not the perfect lift for it…..if you take it off road you will scrub bad! when you need tires again upgrade to 4″ suspension lift and throw that Body lift out the door, and get AM Fenders for more clearence
