My wheels are here!

Ten days ago I placed an order for five steel Cragar wheels for my Wrangler from Quadratec and today they got delivered to me. They would have gotten here sooner but they were out of stock and had to wait till Quadratec received a new batch. As I mentioned previously, the five wheels cost me KD57 combined, shipping them to Kuwait cost me KD94 and I just paid KD22 for customs. So after shipping and customs each wheel ended up costing me nearly KD35 which isn’t that bad.

Now I need to have the wheels painted matt black since they’re currently glossy black and have blue and red retro looking lines. I will probably have AutoTech in Shuwaikh do that since they will be installing my suspension lift once it arrives.
Update: Just dropped my wheels off at TriStar to get painted since they gave me a price that was 70% cheaper than AutoTech. It should get done in 2 days and then I will have the tires mounted.

I thought you were installing the suspension lift yourself?

question: i thought lifted cars fail the annual car inspection. How do you plan to pass it, assuming no was6a ???

oh i just read your other post, why are the wheels so cheap?

Adam: Decided against it, if I had a properly lit garage where i could store all my tools and take my time installing the lift I would have done it. At the moment its not very practical that I do so myself.
RaZ: I’ve heard a lot of different stories. Some say lifts our of of the picture completely. Some say its ok as long as your wheels don’t stick out. I am personally going to keep my original stock wheels and use them when i go to the car inspection.
Cerebral: 57KD for 5 wheels. Cheap because they are just black steelies.

Just dont bitch later about how some cop fined you !!! or that you needed was6a just to pass your inspection.

Well no promises. One thing I am pissed off about is the fact that the law isn’t clear. People are saying it varies from cop to cop. As I mentioned some say as long as the wheels don’t stick out of the fenders you’re ok, others say if the lift is not too high its ok, others say any mod is not ok.

Congratulations,
For painting I recommend TriStar Garage
btw what would have been the cost in Kuwait market ,,if available ?
9. Mark | March 25th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Ah yeah TriStar do their own painting. Will check with them.
I couldn’t find the wheels in the local market. The only place that would have had similar wheels was the American Racing dealer but they are extremely unprofessional and unorganized plus they told me whatever i order (they dont have anything in stock) would arrive in august or September!

Mohammed,
The TriStar name & logo comes from the fact that they started as Mercedes cars specialists . They stoped doing the mechanics works but definitly do body work & painting for all valuable cars specially Mercedes

Dude although painting is good the best way to go is powdercoating, the paint will chip off with time, powder coat will last both on and offroad and at a fractiono fthe price.

Everyone quoted me a higher price for powder coating so thats why I went with paint.
