Thank you Rocky!

rocky 6

Just finished watching Rocky 6. Its definitely not my favorite Rocky, that honor falls on Rocky 4. I think my biggest issue with Rocky 6 is the fight scene, they tried to make it look and feel like a real boxing match on Pay TV which I didn’t like. Anyway it was still a good movie to watch.

While watching the movie though I wondered why Sylvester Stallone would bother doing it. He doesn’t need the money and he definitely wasn’t looking his best because as you can guess he is a pretty old guy. I think he did this movie for all us Rocky fans, thats the only explanation I can think of and for that I have to thank him. It was a nice farewell to one of the greatest movie franchises ever. Now I can’t wait for Rambo 4 and if he has the time I hope he also does a sequel to Cobra, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Very nice! Im looking forward to seeing this movie! I heard that it was good!

  2. Craig says:

Rambo 4 would work because he could play an advisor or something and it wouldn’t matter that he’s (I think) in his 60s. I haven’t seen the new Rocky movie but I think maybe I will. There isn’t much else in the theatres these days anyway.

You might be right it’s only for the fans! But you say it was a good movie??!!! Oh God No! It was I think his worst ever! I went to watch it but hated myself for doing that!
How could he trash a great legacy???
I’m happy that at least you guys liked it!

I’m sorry but I have very high expectations from that movie, or actually every movie I go to watch! Then when I get disappointed I jest get angry with them all (Producers, Director and even the Actors)!
Maybe it’s not fair but I’m difficult to satisfy if a movie wasn’t 95% perfect from every single angle.
I hope I didn’t get anyone upset with the last comment!

another resurrection attempt of yet another washed out 80′s has-been….

  7. Q80Warlock says:

Well the movie was just fan service a very bad one. Stallone mentions he did this one because he knows fans hate Rocky 5 and he personally didn’t like it so he wanted to give Rocky a better finale.

I still wished if Rocky had gone Ashita No Joe style…(Ashita no Joe a Japanese anime about a boxer…Arabic dubbed as “Al batal”).

I’m not expecting much from Rambo IV except it being another Republican propaganda movie just like how Rambo III was…

Talking about 80′s movies…I’m going to watch Escape from New York now :D

  8. TweeZ says:

but you have to admit, Stallone looked pretty jacked in this one for his old age!

  9. arablondoner says:

I think it was a really emotional exit! I really liked what he did bearing in mind his age and stuff…It was a fitting end to the series. However I had issues with the actual ending of the movie and the various mixed messages from girl – I mean it was silly – she was basically the same age as his son.

  10. TweeZ says:

the key message there, arablondoner, is that you are never too old to have fun! ;)

if I look like him in the ring when I’m also 87, I’ll be a happy man.

  12. yazeed says:

how could anyone like this movie…. what a waste of brain cells……Stallone is 60 years old, that’s 5 years away from retirement…. a senior citizen should not be boxing PERIOD

  13. Fonzy says:

i am a huge fan of all his sequels but the guy is 60 years old… i dont think he shud be doing anymore action movies, feels weird. but this movie, i gotta see.

  14. Toxy says:

I am a huge fan of Rocky but left a little disappointed after this. I mean it was ok, but not great.

Most of the movie was spent in reflection of the past. I would love to have seen Rocky die at the end….that would have set the emotional bells ringing.

A final tear for a dear old friend.

  16. holla says:

the best stallone film ever was “OVER THE TOP”

  17. vampire says:

i didn’t like rocky,, but cobra,, man that’s a movie

i think he did this movie for fun and making money,, if every actor/actress would think that they don’t need to do this movie bcoz they don’t need money,, movie industry will be falling

  18. moocherx says:

holla… sorry man, I think it was Judge Dredd!

  19. yazeed says:

TOXY i agree, i would’ve loved to see him die at the end… now thats closure lol

  20. Cajie says:

    moocherx,
    don’t you mean “Kindergarten Cop”?
or was it the other grunting chap?

The original Rocky was the defining movie. Everything else after that is just to milk the franchise.

  21. Q80Warlock says:

That’s what I meant by Ashita no Joe style ending…Rocky dying would have made a very dramatic ending…

But it’s Hollywood so dying is a big no…

  22. subcorpus says:

saw the movie last nite …
didnt like it at all …
liked the fact that rocky’s son was layed by a hero …
as in peter in the heroes …
cobra was good … one of the best action flicks when we were kids …
i wudnt mind a sequel to that …
i still remember the tag line for that movie …
“crime is a disease … meet the cure” hehe …

  23. moocherx says:

    Stallone’s going senile!
