The Best Burger in Kuwait

I was talking to a friend of mine two weeks ago and he pointed out to me an article in TimeOut Dubai magazine on the best burgers in Dubai. Their winner? Johnny Rockets. I thought that was very sad since although Johnny Rockets burgers are great they’re no where near being the best burgers in Kuwait. Thats why I decided to start my own “The Best Burger in Kuwait” competition. I will hopefully be having at least two burgers a week from places you might or might not have heard of and once I decide I have enough burger reviews (maybe after 15 reviews?) I will crown a champion.
If anyone has a place they want me to try out, please leave a comment below with the name and location of the restaurant and I will try to make sure I check it out.
Update: Here are the burgers I have reviewed so far…
Applebee’s
Bredz
Burger Boutique
Fuddruckers
Gaucho Gril
Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Hashi
Johnny Rockets
Munch
Prime & Toast
Ruby Tuesday
Slider Station
Sheraton Hotel
The Burger Hub
The Little Oven
Wimpy

Try the wagyu burger at Hashi (located across Salhiya Mall next to Johny Rockets)… yummy! But have to admit it’s pricy…

8. Bujasim | March 12th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Wondering how did they select the best burger in Dubai? was it based on taste alone or type of beef or service…etc
9. K.theKuwaiti | March 12th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Munch .. sometime ever.
10. Shaikha | March 12th, 2008 at 11:08 am
I suggest the burger at prime and toast. It is right next to the burger hub.
Now that will definately win the competition!
11. zaydoun | March 12th, 2008 at 11:23 am
I too read that Time Out Dubai story and couldn’t believe Johnny Rocket’s won best burger. The reviewers obviously don’t know better, and they actually included fast food joints in the reviews. WTF?! Don’t get me wrong, I love Johnny but it’s nowhere near the best burger in Dubai or anywhere else. Certainly not in Kuwait
In Kuwait, it’s a race to the finish between: Burger Hub, Gaucho Grill*, Prime & Toast, Slider Station, Burger Boutique
Oh and if you like your burgers well done, you are automatically disqualified (i.e. your opinion doesn’t count)
*Gaucho’s sirloin burger is a thing of beauty
12. Think-Big | March 12th, 2008 at 11:24 am
for me I like burger @ Burger Boutique - Alraya
” but depending on what criteria ? like what Bujasim asked “
13. Mark | March 12th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Well I do love my burgers well done! Really gross to even think about getting a bloody burger.
The criteria is simple, my taste. It will just be a burger review and not a restaurant, service, cost etc.. kinda of review. Just the burger and nothing else will be considered int he review.
14. fkj | March 12th, 2008 at 11:34 am
6abakhna Babo makes the best burgers ever.. u should try it once :p
15. Mishari | March 12th, 2008 at 11:38 am
If you’re ever in Dubai, try the burgers at Emirates Towers Hotel. The serve them in room, in the lobby, or by the pool. Don’t know if they have more than one kind, but the one i ordered came in two smaller burgers for a single order/plate, with fries.
Truly delicious!!!
Torn between Mark and Zaydoun, on the “well done” issue, i don’t like my burger rare, but overcooking the burger really make the juiciness of the burger disappear. Specially true for the Kobe burgers from Sultan Center, i overcooked it once and it tasted like crap. So i guess i’m leaning more towards zaydoun on this matter.
16. nibaq | March 12th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Wimpys in Nuzha.
Any other places in Kuwait is all smoke and mirrors. Who cares if the burger was made by blind nuns in the mountains of Tibet and has unpronounceable toppings. At the end of the day they all come out the same way.
17. Tru | March 12th, 2008 at 11:39 am
There is no where else Slider Station, where you can find a huge variety of sliders and burgers. Try, The Moroccan Bagel Burger or The Portobello and Mozzarella Burger, believe me you will like it!
18. khobiz | March 12th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
the new clientele kuwait magazine is doing a feature on the best burgers in kuwait.
coming out in April 2008 !
19. zaydoun | March 12th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Mark.. I didn’t say bloody. Just pink, not bloody.. A juicy medium (or even medium well) burger can be heaven even on its own. A dry well-done burger needs the condiments to make it edible
And I was addressing the disqualifier to everyone, not just you :-)
20. organic kuwait | March 12th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Best Veggie burgers in Kuwait:
Hard Rock
SAS - with guacamole
LOFAT
and our homemade veggie/bean burger :P
21. Mark | March 12th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
khobiz, we will have to see who their #1 burger is.
zaydoun, as long as the burger isn’t pink i would be cool with that
22. lko | March 12th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Big Mac
McDonald’s
23. bazaar | March 12th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
try the triple prime burger from Ruby Tuesdays (order delivery via 6alabat.com instead of going to the restaurant. I cant say its the best cuz that honour definitely goes to the burger at Gauchos Grill, but it aint bad..
24. Armani Exchanger | March 12th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
i would totally recommend “:The Burger Hub”
OFF TOPIC: mark what is the font type that you used to write the banner (The Best Burger in Kuwait)?

Zaydoun its simple, if its pink its not cooked, if its not pink then its cooked lol
32. Mishari | March 12th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
I’m posting this here, and over at the Little Oven post.
Mark, while someone was recommending a burger from slider station i got to thinking, most places have multiple burgers, on what basis will you choose the burger to rate at a specific restaurant?
In many burger joints, i could love one of their burgers and hate another, so how are you gonna pick from the hundred options available at slider station or burger hub, etc…?
Or are you gonna try every single one? ;)
33. xeonali | March 12th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
I agree with bazaar .. you should try the triple prime burger from Ruby Tuesdays . I know the food in their whole menu is crap! except this sandwich . And I recommend to try it @ Abu-7laifa’s branch .. the one along seaside road .. I didn’t say it’s the best , but definitely one of the bests ..
34. Pink Moon | March 12th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
You should stick to the same type of burger at each restaurant to be fair. ie if you have a regular cheesburger at one restaurant u should try the cheesburger at all the restaurants. It wouldnt be fair to compare the regular burger somewhere to a bacon cheese wagu burger somewhere else. Unless you just pick the “best” burger of each restaurant based on reviews and go with those.
35. bazaar | March 12th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
pink moon is right…price plays a factor too…a wagyu/kobe or sirloin burger is always going to be tastier and a lot more expensive than a normal burger made from cow butt. (unless its the nasty angus burger at Burger King…thats just sad).
36. bazaar | March 12th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
damn….im suddenly starving ;)

for my the best is GBL avenues dont even try the 1 in marina
39. attrogg | March 12th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
mushroom swiss burger at beit 7 has just the right proportions of bread to patty to cheese. they come with great steak fries (they call them potato wedges). comes with some lettuce, cucumber and tomato on the side, so dress as you like.
just make sure it’s not cut in half. it’s one of those burgers that once you start, you can’t really put down.
the bread at a lot of the new places disappoints me - as if they’re trying to skimp out by making you full from the bread rather than the contents.
40. Mark | March 12th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
these burger reviews will be based on my personal taste and nothing scientific. all the burgers i order will be very similar with nothing too drastic between them because i dont like my burgers complicated anyway. I probably won’t be trying wagyu/kobe burgers for the simple fact i dont think they’re anything special. now if the only burger on the menu is a kobe burger then thats what i am going to have. i tried the wagyu burger at burger boutique for example and i prefered the regular burgers. i want a burger that tastes like a burger not a steak.
price will not be a factor in my decision making. If a burger costs KD10 and its really good and another burger costs KD1 but is just good. The KD10 burger will win because its a better tasting burger. The aim of these reviews is to find the best burger not the best burger for the money.
From previous experience price doesn’t factor into the taste anyway, an expensive burger isn’t always better than a cheap burger and if it is better then its understandable why its more expensive.
41. holla | March 12th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
sorry but they are right, Johnny rockets makes the #12 which is THE best burger in kuwait full stop
42. uturn | March 12th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Why waste the effort and only review the best tasting burger! Try as many joints with classic burgers as you can and then give out two awards: 1) Best tasting burger 2) best value for money burger
43. Mark | March 12th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
uturn thats the plan duhh

49. W | March 12th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Mark ..you have to try this burger !
Go to Al-Manshar Mall in Fahaheel (across from Al-Kout Mall ) then go up the escalator to Fun Ahoy, the children entertainment anchor..inside Fun Ahoy take the elevator to the first floor ..you’ll find Papa Johns and right next to it there is this currently namelss restaurant (white and red) which makes the bes cheese burgers..they’re fresh, meat patties are cooked upon request, and best of all, the burger, fries/onion rings, and coke cost 1.100 KD which is cheaper than mcdonalds ! My only drawback is that the meat patty isnt thick enough and their sauce is a little “drippy” but the taste is A-MAZING !. But they’re definately worth a try.. im personally kind of addicted to them!
50. joud | March 12th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
alright, about 2-3 days ago this girl told me that the best burger she’s ever had in her life was the one in the 4 points hotel next to the sheraton . she’s had it in her room from room service but i’m sure u can order it in the lobby or smthg
and she travels A LOT so her burger theory is worth testing
51. Mark | March 12th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
was planning on trying the burger at the sheraton actually so 4 points is my next stop.
52. uturn | March 13th, 2008 at 3:16 am
duhh!
you said “Thats why I decided to start my own “The Best Burger in Kuwait†competition” … then you said “The aim of these reviews is to find the best burger not the best burger for the money.”
I suggested that you don’t just crown the “best burger” but also “best burger value” or “best burger for the money” as you put it. so it goes against your plan
duhh!

54. punky | March 13th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Gaucho Grill @ the Palms. The best Gourmet Burger in Kuwait. A nice thick patty, they do burgers a hell of a lot better than they do steaks. Its where I go when I need a good burger. Don’t get me wrong Johnny and the rest are good, but a nice big gourmet burger (Same as you get in the best hotels) just delicious.
55. s | March 13th, 2008 at 9:35 am
someone beat me to suggesting the mushroom burger at breads in souq sharq… by far the best burger i’ve had in kuwait and the only one i keep going back for… and i’ve had a lot of them: )

Hi again last fraiday lwent with my frinds to( jm3yat el mn9orya ) up stair and there is a restaurant called( black & white) ,their burger is tasty.SO HOW ABOUT TRYING IT.
62. RealBurger | March 25th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
So Mark/guyz, where is the best burger so far.
I have not find a 5 stars burger in Kuwait yet.
and i will not pay 11.750 to try a burger, thats a freakin Rip-off.
One advice for all…..
Stop eating junk food, it is not meat.
It’s everything else left from the animal.
63. muhannad | March 29th, 2008 at 11:04 am
suggesting 2 things:
1) to maintain list of all tested locations and their ratings, keep link or keep showing your list at the end of related blogs
2) to include one of Macdonald items in your list as a standard. Bcuz every one tried it once
64. Rawan | April 9th, 2008 at 2:43 am
Gaucho Grill (Y)

72. Bijoux | August 30th, 2008 at 2:54 am
the burger at movenpick shuwaikh is my favourite so far. its very simple but is what a burger should be. the size is satisfying and the meat to bun ratio is perfect.
