Looking for an affordable digital camera?

canon

If yes then I have to recommend the Canon PowerShot A550. I have the older version and I keep it in my car and use it as my everyday point and shoot camera. The camera is 7.1MP and has a lot of features including full manual control and uses regular AA batteries which makes it practical when traveling. Now here is the best part, the camera is now on sale at Amazon.com and costs only $128!! Thats KD36 which is REALLY CHEAP. [Amazon Link]

    Mark,

I’m looking to buy a digital SLR camera and I have my eyes on the Nikon D80. What do you think? Also, what about prices? At Amazon it sells for $900-$1150 depending on the lens. Is it any better in Q8? Do they even have it here?

Quick question: How much does it cost to ship stuff bought from Amazon? Never bought from them, would like to try and too lazy to check the site!

If I may answer that Q,,

this link compares the Nikon D80 with Canon 400D

    I would recommend 400D because :

    -lighter in weight
-comes with a lens (nikon you buy body and lens separately )
-has awesome results as in shots

almost the same as the nikon D80 in the other specifications

you can see the shots taken by it here

and these are Nikon D80s’ shots

ordering online is almost the same as the prices at Kuwait

and sorry for being nosy X-)

I would easily recommend the D80. Its a really great camera and has a lot of amazing features. You can either get the camera with a kit lens or body alone and you get to choose your own lens.

I also wouldn’t use the two flickr links above to find out which is better the canon or nikon since it all depends on the photographer not the camera.

check out dpreview.com or steves-digicams.com for a comparison.

Also the Nikon dealer in Kuwait is better then the Canon and their prices are also better. The prices here aren’t as cheap as Amazon of course, its a much better deal buying online.

The Nikon dealer is Ahraf, they have showroom in Souk Sharq and one in Mohallab and another in Salmiya near Marina Mall (Tel 5731372)

    Thanks Q8 and Mark,

I saw the pictures and the Canon shots look nice, but the Nikon pictures look awsome! I can’t believe they were taken by a digital camera, even a Nikon SLR! I guess film is history now, even for pros.

I’m sold on the D80 :) Now I have to shop around for the best deal. I will check the local dealer just to get a baseline. My only worry about ordering online is if the camera is defective for some reason, I will have to deal with the hassle of returning it.

    Thanks again guys.

    Mark,

Will it survive in our extreme hot weather as you said you leave it in your car?

  14. 15. Mark | July 28th, 2007 at 9:25 am

well my car is never parked under the sun and when it is its only for a few hours so i couldnt tell u if it would still work if u park the car for 8 hours under the sun everyday

sup mark, yeah well ur right u can NEVER go wrong with a Canon! they r absolutely the best in photography. Olympus comes second in line, why i fell inlove with the cam is that u can take pictures up 2 10ft underwater at high resolution, shock, wind, freeze proof bursting a 7.1mp, i just think its the best thing out there 4 a multipurpose point and shoot
