Quick Movie Reviews

Serenity
Expected it to be way better. Didn’t like the actors, they felt very B rated. Movie started off slow but got better near the end.

Broken Flowers
Lolita scene was the best. Bill Murray rocked. I liked the movie although the ending could have been better.

Lord of War
Didn’t like it that much. Felt it was too long. Didn’t find it interesting. Production was really good.

Saw II
I preferred the original Saw. sequel wasn’t as freaky or shocking as the original. Some of the scenes were really lame.

Oliver Twist
The original movie and book were really great. I played Oliver once in a play! This remake sucked. They didn’t even have the song “Food Glorious Food”!

The Brothers Grimm
I was expecting it to be more fairytale like and so was disappointed when I saw the movie. It was kinda slow and not as mystical as it could have been. I liked the costumes and settings in the woods though.

City of God
It was enjoyable to watch. Didn’t find it heartbreaking nor life changing. It was a good movie just not as good as some people made it out to be. I bought this movie on DVD.

Damn your harsh on the movies!!

I thought serenity was very well done and follows the book.. the other is the graphics and effects were fantastic for a movie without huge funding!

But Im the type of guy the is easily entertained by movies!

I really wanted to like Serenity but it just didnt do it for me. I would have liked to see more of the girl doing her thing and i didnt like the captain at all either. he is a really bad actor. the whole movie felt… cheap…

dude … your right concerning all the movies, but City of God, in my opinion it deserves better, he movie is nice , and touching, just remember the little kids scene when the youngest got shot , that was something.

scenes like that have been abused in movies, its become very cliche. Just the other day when I was watching Lost episode 10 from season 2 there was a scene similar to it.

my brother for example told me that he found the movie violent and he told me that city of god is counted as a violent movie. I then made him watch Itchi The Killer and now he understands why I dont think City of God is violent :)

cidade de deus is alright. it’s just really stylised and stuff so it’s not that shockign or anything. hardly any films are shocking nowadays as ppl are getting alot more jaded with this shit. there is a certain limit between you and a reel of film.

i thought lord of war would have been like 10000000x better with someone other than NICK CAGE AND HIS GAY PRETTY BROTHER i forgot his name. that guy is way too pretty to be in this role and his big blow up scene had me LOLn. the movie was still ruined by the overstylised bullshit to make the boring subject matter more cool. arms trade is basically all about old fat white men selling guns to the highest bidder in a really routine and typical fashion. not rolling around in an drop top caddy with a G and 2 hoes with gold plated AK’s. the thing is this stuff could be interesting in it’s own right without adding all this extra bullshit. gotta love hollywood.

Yo! Check out the following titles (might play upto ur palate): The Constant Gardener, and The Descent (an excellent horror fare - don’t watch it on a full stomach),for some good drama - see CRASH, and for some foreign lingo, check out Takeshi Kitano’s “The Blind Swordsman, Zatoichi”.
P.S.: You can order most of the titles from http://WWW.MACDVDS.COM (local online vendor w/ free home delivery).
    Stay cool!
