Does anyone know if this phone is exclusively for Skype? Or can I use the phone with other software as welll.. like Yahoo or Google Talk?

The yahoo phone service is better and is 50 to 70% cheaper than Skype :)

alright. I just installed the cabel connection and phoned someone at kuwait. skype is awsome :) i am going to get this for sure.

I was on 1MB ADSL (Wi-Fi) and today I am going to install a 3MB Cabel. I will try to connect the Cabel directly to the imac instead of using a wi-fi as it might slower the amout of data transfered to the pc. Hopfuly this will work.

1) if there is a delay its not because of the phone its because of the internet connection. with my qualitynet 512kb dsl connection there was no delay. if you have satellite internet i think u might get a delay cuz of the higher latency. with dial up u will for sure get a delay.

2) if your computer is in sleep mode then skype isnt running. atleast thats how i think sleep mode works, suspends everything until u turn it back on.

if you are disappointed by the quality its probably from your connection. since u dont have a landline i am guessing u r using gprs? if u r thats the problem.

Ok two Q’s :-
1-How was the quality of the phone call ? was there any delay ? .. I’ve phoned kuwait mobile phone from dublin and it wasn’t a pleasent experiance at all :(
2-Will it work if the imac is at sleep mode ? I mean will it wake up the imac and make the phone call .. assuming skype is already running ?

I have canceled my land line in order to use skype for my international calls but I am a bit disappointed with the quality ;/

Thanks a lot for this review…very useful. I’m gonna get one myself now – I’m sick of using a headset with my PowerBook when I use Skype, especially since most people I speak to say it’s unclear!

Great Companion to a Great Software that Made IP Telephony, something we can really use in the quality point of view!
