PSP 1.5

Yesterday night I downgraded my PSP from version 2.0 to 1.5. The reason I did that was so I could play pirated PSP games and install Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis emulators.
The downgrade was a bit scary, whenever you play with a hardwares firmware you risk fucking it up so that it becomes useless. Luckily my downgrade went smoothly and my PSP is now version 1.5. Games like SOCOM which I received the other day need a software version 1.52 or higher, so I downloaded another software which makes the PSP think its another version, I made it think it was version 2.0 and I can now continue to play SOCOM online.
I ordered a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II memorystick duo from Amazon so I could install the PSP games on. I ordered the Ultra II version since its faster then the regular memorystick and will help when it comes to loading the games faster.
Until the 1GB stick arrives I am using my 128MB memorystick which won’t fit any downloaded pirated PSP games but will fit a ton of emulators and Roms. I installed a Super Nintendo emulator with the following games: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, NBA JAM Tournament Edition, Super Metroid, Super Mario World and Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. They all run very nicely on the PSP and I spent most of my time flipping between Mortal Kombat and NBA JAM, my two favorite games ever. I still need to download NHL 94 which is one of my favorite sports games also.
Using thepiratebay.org I was able to find around 30 PSP games which I managed to download. A 512MB memorystick would be enough to run most of them but if you are planning to install more then 1 game on a memory stick it would be a lot better to get a 1GB stick. Some games like Collin McRae take up 975MB of space which won’t even fit on a 512MB stick.
So if you have a PSP and want to downgrade and install emulators and downloaded games, here are some links to help you out.

Um..you said you got Socom to work. Did you get the iso to load, or the UMD? I tried with iso, using the WAB version changer, changed to 2.0, and tried to load Socom but it didn’t work. Mind telling me what you did?

Only 2.0 or lower can be changed to version 1.5…nothing else so u can’t do anything with ur psp other then original umd discs or homebrew stuff throug a gta save hack.
u can wait till theres a loader for 2.6 so u can play downloaded games though.

im totally clueless… whats the 1.5 got that the 2.5 doesnt? and whats the 2.5 got that the 1.5 doesnt? how about a 2.6? would it matter that upgrading to a 2.6 started as a 1.5 or a 2.5?

1.5 allows u to run pirated games and homebrew aps. 2.5 doesnt allow u to do that but 2.5 has a web browser which 1.5 doesnt.

i dont remember anymore, one of the ROM sites. NBA Jam on SNES is better then genesis, better graphics and sound. You can find NBA JAM and NBA JAM TE.

hi mark, were you able to run SOCOM missions on the UMD (not online) without upgrading your firmware to 2.0? So I just need to use WAB version changer to trick the UMD, right? Thanks.

Hello Mark. So I want to buy a PSP but I’m trying to figure out if a should buy a psp1.5 or a psp2.6.I had read in the internet that now is it possible to change the version most people that own a 2.6 2.5 want to change their version to a 1.5 1.0 why is that? The 1.5 can play pirated PSP games but what else? Well I been reading about WAB UMD SOCOM.ISO I’m totally clueless about of any of this name are. I’m sure that I would never be able to use 100% psp. But still a want to buy it, so what is your advice? Psp 1.5 or 2.6? (I want to play games). I you are my last chance to make my desertion, I have been in the internet a lot but a have not read what I want to know. Thank you for your time

The downgrade is a little risky however it can be done. A lot of people use http://www.psp3d.com and look on fourms you can see most information there. I got my 2.7 downgraded with one easy downgrader it was clear and easy on telling me what i had to do. If you want to downgrade you need to know what version of your psp firmware is you would find that out in settings. You will need a usb cable to transfer any data across to your memory card. You will also need a memory card as well big enough for games if you wish to run emulations ect. To find out more visit the link above and PSP 3D will help you they explain all jargan as well. Hope This Helps

I heard they sell pirated games to load on ur computer;usb to ur psp and download. I also heard they downgrade to v1.5(to play fake games) and then switch it to v3.11(for camera mode and stuff). i tried it with a 2gig memory card, and hell yah it works… u need the software for upgrade and downgrade though
