Dog Trainer
As most of you know, Geo has grown into a large dog and like all dogs he has so much energy confined in him which makes him hard to control some times. He’s a very lively dog which is cool but one of my biggest issues is walking him on the leash, he hasn’t really gotten the hang of it yet and keeps dragging me everywhere when I take him for a walk. So does anyone know a good personal dog trainer here in Kuwait? Mark and I found a good dog training school in Lebanon when we went down in December but we’re not really eager to send him there and we don’t know any other good ones here in Kuwait.

The only trainers u will find are in farms here in Kuwait,,,and most are good i guess, i trained my dog at one farm in chabd. The owner of the farm is Kuwaiti but the trainer was russian, and iv been to the farm. They had many animals there…a lot of dogs for training and i know many people who trained their dogs there. My dog was trained at 7 months for basic training although they have all levels of training. You have nothing to lose, give him a call and pass by their farm and check it out :)
Trainer: Stano
Tel: 9296086
I hope he is still available and hopefully this info was useful to u! ;) good luck
One of the best trainers in kuwait is a guy called Mohammed Al-Nobi. tried looking up his contact info and all i found was an interview but you can ask @ the vet.

Maybe check with PAWS. They might be able to recommend some classes: pawsq8@yahoo.com
hey Joudz thanks alot for the info. It is also important for me that Geo will be treatd firmely but nicely there. It’s crucial that the owner of the farm and trainer are dog lovers and not abusive. Anyway I will give them a call to see if the trainer is still available and will probably go check it out with Mark when he comes back:)
H2o i asked my Vet in Wafra if he knew any good dog trainers in Kuwait but they coudln’t provide me with any helpful info. Will see i i an get a hold of this guy though.Thanks..
yo-ghurt I’m taking Geo to the dog show this friday so will probably ask someone there about that.
Hey nat..there is a dog show? plz can u tell me where it will be?? I would love to go there
There’s a post about it in the forum, today is the last day for registrations.

more of a cat lover myself. Dunno trainers in the area. My sis loves books and shows by Cesar Milan. You read up on him? I dunno if theory is harder to put into practice… Thought i’d throw it out there though.
I was going to recommend Holla, but it seems you guys found a better solution! hehehe
At PAWS the other day some of us were talking about dog behaviourists, but we concluded we don’t know any. Also be careful at Chabt because a LOT of PAWS abused dogs came from there… one is so traumatised he still lets no human near him.
At GEO’s birthday which you posted about, I mentioned I had a present (but you ungrateful b*stard never replied). It was a dog training book… but a cool one! As my dog’s too retarded to be trained, you’re welcome to it… and you’d be surprised how easy it would be to train him yourself so long as you have a “clicker” and some treats he likes.
So if you want the book, just let me know where to leave it.
Marzouq if anything Geo will just try to mount Holla hehe..
Moocherex that Chabt place seems awful, so they actually abuse dogs over there? Im definitely not taking Geo there if that’s the case.. We’ve already gotten a couple of dog books when we first got Geo, he’s pretty much trained, like he know most commands, he’s just not leash trained yet. But anyway the reason why i also want to find him a trainer is that my mother in law is going down to Leb for a month and Geo will be alone at home since she usually babysits him during the day. So anyway instead of just boarding Geo at IVH, I want to get him properly trained with a professional.
hahahahaha! OK I want to see that! Since I know holla can’t outrun Geo! hahaha
Nat: I’m not saying that the place you mean at Chabt abuses dogs. I’m just saying that some abused dogs were handed over to PAWS from there! I don’t think I constructed the sentence very well!!
Incidentally, if you ever need a dog boarding, PAWS does it too, and much cheaper (4KD per day for a Geo sized dog). Plus I always pay special attention to the boarders because I know they miss their humans more. It’s a bit far though, but just for future reference.
The only way to know if a place is good with dogs, is to pay a visit and just see how the dogs react to the staff. At PAWS for example, all the dogs jump on the workers and try to lick them to death.
Marzouq I’m sure u’d like that:p
Moocherex i missunderstood you in your first post. Anyway i will give them a shot. If not then boarding it is.. I didn’t know that Paws also boards non-rescue animals though..
Do you work or help out there?
I help out there Nat. At the moment there are 5 (I think) dogs boarding. 4 belong to a family who have moved to Australia and they will be going soon (they have been there quite a few weeks), and a small thing that came in a few days ago for a week. The money from boarding helps out with the running costs. And the staff are excellent at working out which dogs can be let out in the runs with other dogs (and which ones can’t!!).
My name is Ayeshah Al-Humaidhi and I am the Executive Director of Animal Friends. I have been in the US for the last year apprenticing with an animal behaviorist and currently instruct many different levels of training classes. I will be moving back to Kuwait in October to continue my work with Animal Friends as well as offer dog training to the community. I will warn you that currently, there are no trainers in Kuwait that use positive methods in their training repertoire. Currently the offerings available are limited to aversive methods, which for the pet dog is not usually the best course of action because this type of training can cause relationship fallout which translates into the dogs loses trust in their handler due to fear of punishment. This is not conducive to the type of relationship we want with our pets today where they sleep by our beds and hang out on the couch with us. Working dogs and dogs that are not being kept as pets in the sense that we do can be handled differently. If you need help with walking him on leash, I would strongly recommend using a Gentle Leader which is a head halter based on the concept of how one leads a horse. It is extremely humane and without pain and offers you the control you want when walking your dog. Some dogs just hate having something on their head and can’t get use to it, if that is the case, I would recommend a harness where the d-ring that you clip the leash to is actually on the front of the chest rather than the back. Again if the leash is clipped to the front end of the body, there is no ability to pull. You can see these products at http://www.premier.com/pages.cfm?ID=29 and http://www.premier.com/pages.cfm?ID=75 which explain their use and why they work. I have five dogs of my own and all use the gentle leader except for one who uses a front clip harness and I can comfortably walk five dogs at once and they have a good time because I am not frustrated and I am not yanking a chain around their neck. What type of dog is Geo? I will be shipping these products to Kuwait in the next few weeks and will be sold through Animal Friends at this time. If you are interested, I would be happy to let you know when they become available.
I have rescued a dog from the road. The breed is Japanese spitz. I think its about 1.5 to 2 year old female. I really dont know who the owner was and how the owner trained the dog. If anybody can help me to find a trainer it would be very helpful for me to get it trained with the basics.
Please contact me on 66955920 or sri_1976_4u@yahoo.com if you are a dog trainer or you know any trainer.
Looking forward for your help
Nat,
I just stumbled on your post just now looking for a dog trainer. Did you happen to find a good one in Kuwait?
I have an 8 month old germen shepherd. Even though she’s pretty easy to train. I have trained her the basics, but she still lacks stuff which will make my life easier.
Let me know.
Hi ,
I just came across your side and read all mails here. I would like to add something regarding dog trainers. I did meet the russian once, and he is very strict, military type training. I wasnt happy about it. And I know noubi (he is mentioned as Mohammad al noubi), noubi is his nick name and he is a true dog whisperer and he is kuwaiti from the states. He trained my very difficult dog, with love and rewards, and i didnt recognise my dog’s behaviour. My dog Spike looked him in the eyes and did everything that was asked of him. So when i left kuwait over a year ago, I had to leave my dog behind, moving to lebanon into a flat. Our plan was to bring the dog soon back, and noubi cared for him, without charge coz he liked him so much, the feeling was mutual. I heard many people in kuwait saying negative things about him, although they dont know him, he saved countless dogs from the desert and would take the ones in that i found and paws and animal friends would not take it coz they were too full. Now, the municipality destroyed his farm, thru him in jail and noone knows where all the animals went, dogs, cats and pigeons. So now my dog is lost…and its noubi who is trying to find him again for me..so just to set the record straight, Noubi is a great trainer, he connects with a dog, and prefers to live with them than with humans. And he paid dearly for it, they took it all away from him, bulldozed the place down, animals gone.
Pls dont judge unless u know all details.
regards
Maria
