Finding a Good Veterinarian
Our Belgian shepherd dog (Geo) will be arriving to Kuwait on the the 6th of February. I’m more than excited yet I’m still concerned about finding him a good veterinarian. Around a year ago when the site was less popular Mark posted asking the same question but didn’t get a lot of replies. I am hoping now that more people visit this site we can get more recommendations. Thanks.

Hi there, although it’s a long way, I would go to the international veterinary clinic on the Wafra road (306) although there are other vets, this (in my opinion) is the ONLY one in Kuwait that abides to international standards. Its big, new, clean and most of the vets are Italian. Very professional.

TJ how far is it from Salmiya? I don’t know where wafra road is..

TJ the vet clinic you mentioned sounds good. It would be great if you can give us more info on the location, contact number and name of the clinic. Thanx.

Hi guys!
We used to have cats like 10 years ago and Im trying to recollect where we used to take them. There was a vet in Fahaheel, one next to the Friday market (the animal market entrance) and also one somewhere in Hawally. If you go to one place they will be able to tell you where the others are. But these vets were for all sorts of animals, and sheeps and chickens were usually waiting for htier turn along with our cats :)
Even I heard of the Wafra one, I think it’s somehow associated with PAWS.
There’s also like a dog training school type thing somewhere in Kuwait, where they train dogs like the one you’re getting, to obey commands and what not. If you’re interested in that I’ll try to get a phone number cause I know there’s one or two hungarians working there with the dogs.

hi mark and nat. go down the 30 expressway past faheel and the oilfield. After the oilfield take the 306 off the expressway to the right and go across and over the 40.its Just after you go over the 40 about 200-300m on the right- up a signposted drive thats also lit at night on the right. The number is kuwait 3261421. Its about 1/2 an hr from salmiya but well worth it I think. Quite an big and impressive centre really. Very professional and seem to treat all sorts of animals. Good luck

Thanx alot guys for the extra info and the web link. Me and Mark have at least one good place to check out now.
Q8 sultana I don’t like the pet hospital next to the fridays mark. I didn’t feel comfortable with the philippino doctor there, i wouldn’t trust him with my dog and the place didn’t feel very welcoming. I’ve also heard about that dog training school i think, I’d be glad the get their number off you once my dog is a bit older. Thanx:)

Is the vet in Ahmadi the same one as the one in wafra?
11. Feras | January 18th, 2006 at 12:12 pm
the one in wafra is not really IN wafra, it’s just on the way over there.. it’s like a few seconds short of a minute away from highway 40. i live in ahmadi and i don’t think we have a vet here, unless u wanna consider the KOC hospital, but yeah check out the international vet clinic, very professional. i take my shepherd over there to get bathed in winter :) ..

Everyone seems to be recommending the international clinic so it must be a very good and professional place. At this point i wouldn’t bother looking elsewhere. Thanx guys for your help:) Hope that Mark will know how to drive us there.

Having done some more research after my initial post to your question last year, I fully agree that the IVH is the best place to go in Kuwait. Although you will pay more you will be getting excellent service and treatment.

Hi Mark and Nat, i just got a puppy and it’s two months old. I’ll be taking him to this clinic in Wafra so they can give him his shots, but when i asked about the training program they said they stopped doing that since last year. So, i was hoping if you know or found out about a good place i could train my puppy?

Hi,
I dont know if anyone can help me with this, but i thought i might as well try..I was born and brought up in Kuwait and just moved to Canada abt 6 years ago. I need some information abt my immunization profile (my mom cant remember), I have been trying to get the phone# for the KOC hospital at Ahmadi, but i havent had any luck. I was hoping someone could let me know what it would be, coz the info is really important. Really appreciate it.
