Thanx guys. Well Dubai is not an option for now. We have a dog and living in a studio in Dubai wouldn't exactly suit his or our needs. If Mark and I are going to move out of Kuwait it will either be back to Lebanon or out of the gulf to Canada or something. It's hard to find a satisfying job in Kuwait in the Advertising field mainly because the market is still not very developped to suit our creative needs as it's also hard to find a good advertising agency here. In Dubai and Lebanon for example Ad agencies are closer to international standards which is sadly far from being the case here in Kuwait. As for being the boss of myself, I would surely love to have my own design studio one day but I still need quite a bit more experience before being able to do so.

Asmaa is right. It is not just Kuwait. it's the whole world. It's hard to find work where the satisfaction/return is worth your personal commitment/investment.

I know exactly how yer feelin’… after a while, when you stop absorbing and the job becomes boring, tedious and so full of routine, you just “grab the dress from under” and run for your sanity! Hehehe.. ama lead your steps too soon enshallah!

Wish you the best Nat!

I was in the Palms beach club the other day. A mini brawl broke out....The fight was between a Kuwaiti man and his wife. He slapped her in public.

They sent the security in to deal with the situation - but the Indian and Filipino guys were too scared to throw out the Kuwaiti man. They stood there looking at the idiot.

In the end, the other Arab members in the club all ganged up against the Kuwaiti and forced him out of the club.

That's why Indian and Egyptian Security are useless in Kuwait. If they were Kuwaiti security - do you think the same thing would have happened?

In Dubai, it's the same thing. The locals there don't give a shit about the cops - because they are mostly Indians etc.

Hahaha...Like Dubai is the best place to work now! It's a blasted nightmare nowadays....

1) Cost of living is ridiculously expensive
2) Horrific Pollution
3) Disgraceful Traffic
4) Way too many trash people

I lived there for 3 years and left in 02. It was a much better place to live and work - now I dread my monthly return back there.

By the way, trying to start up a new firm in Dubai nowadays is almost impossible. Why? Because they've opened up the markets to all the massive multi-national companies. Any new upstart firms get pushed aside or crushed with saturated pricing.

Nat, the best thing to do is be your own boss. Pick a niche, look for a couple of uselful, productive partners and work your way into the Kuwait market. There is still enormous potential here, much more than people really see!
