Inside Villamoda
A Villamoda employee posted a comment on my Villamoda Fever post to clarify some misconceptions on their sale. This is what he had to say:
Hi Everyone, i just wanted to make some points clear, first of all I work in Villa Moda and 99% of the items that were included in the SALE are from this season (SS 06 which is spring summer 2006) people are so dumb and they just make up crap saying that they are from last year and stuff like that. The items that were not included in the sale are either carryovers (will be released next year) or did very well before the sale and only a few pieces are left. Next, if you came earlier you would of found a lot of cool stuff (bags, wallets, clothets..etc) of course your not going to get anything after a few hours of the sale. And about the clothes of the staff (everyone had their own clothes on) it was a good thing , in the first 3 days of the sale i was working 13 hours daily from 9 am - 11 pm so come on guys don’t expect us to wear suits! some of the staff including me, didn’t even have lunch or dinner in the first day!

having worked in villa moda for a short while, trust me when i say that the enviroment for the employees is just terrible. their break room is just appaling and the work is at times overwhelming, even with just one customer. plus they dont allow them to wear “anything” they want, they all need to just look smart, which most of them do.
but the truth is, i hate almost everything about villa moda, from some of the nitwit employees to the snobby customers (like this guy mishary from multibrand, very well known by anyone who shops there, if he would work as much as he would talk and praise himself then maybe ppl could actually stand him and stick around long enough to buy something). id rather do all my shopping while vacationing than go there, i once bought some stuff there and after a week, it was all 50% off, and they told the sale would be a long time away.
the place has good roots to base itself on, but they really need to do something about thier customer trust issues.

I remember a guy who studied in my college, he also worked part time in villa moda. Total asshole fuck.

first of all , there is no need to mention NAMES. and if you bought something 10 days before the sale (YUP 10 days not a week) you do get 50% of the price back (a coupon would be issued so you can buy something else in that 50% during the sale period) .For example, lets say you buy a Gucci bag for 200 KD and after 10 days the sale starts, you do get a 100 KD coupon issued so you can spend it in the sale. as i see it its something good , none of the other shops do this.
Carlsb3rg what your saying is not relevant to our topic.

8. shopa | June 2nd, 2006 at 10:27 pm
OK, say whatever you want but I KNOW for sure that they slip things from the year before. Again, you can fool many people BUT you can never fool me. Just to clarify things, I, shopa, am not against Villa Moda. I love the place especially since I am addicted to buying bags and shoes! But I have seen stuff in previous Villa Moda sales that were not just from the season before but from the year before and when I asked about them, the employee said they were this year’s stuff thinking I am dumb enough to beleive her!

well even if people PRETEND that they r getting ripped off by Villa Moda or that they r getting old items they are still coming back for more. and more.
10. SWOS | June 2nd, 2006 at 10:54 pm
One more thing , i am talking about the boutiques in Villa Moda , not the wearhouses (which one of them is located inside the building while the other one is outside) which sell old stuff from 2000-01-02-03-04..etc
11. Carlsb3rg | June 3rd, 2006 at 12:11 am
The asshole works in Villa Moda, and the topic mentions it’s employees, hence totally relevant.
12. Nat | June 3rd, 2006 at 1:05 am
SWOS where’s the second wearhouse located inside the building?
13. Marzouq | June 3rd, 2006 at 9:47 am
I really dont like even walking into Villa moda! I feel like it makes everything automatically over priced! Im a guy who doesnt do much shopping anyways.. maybe once or twice a year! If I get something from villa moda I feel like Im being ripped off! And I agree customer service is not good there!

Nat: go towards the back left corner, take the elevator to the top floor. The clothes they ‘hide’ there are hideous tho.

Just a quick note - if you look closely at any shoe box in Villa Moda or any label for that matter you can tell which season it is from - for example just now would be ss06 - so if you want something and are worried about it being from a previous season, just read the damn lable!!!!!!!
16. SWOS | June 3rd, 2006 at 8:02 pm
Marzouq it depends u can get a pair of True Religion jeans for 40kd or one 500kd Dolce jeans..depends on what ur looking for and ur budget, same goes on everything else. Also the prices of the items are similar to thier prices in Europe & the US , don’t 4get tax, shipping and other expenses. that’s why the price is slightly higher. and if u buy anything from us you do get alterations free of charge for RTW (ready 2 wear) and if ur bag needs to be repaired for whatsoever reason anytime in the future u get that free too.

Well, I have to say TWO things. Which may not even be relevant to the original topic of this conversation… but ONE: the peeps that totally slate Villa Moda - a) dont have the money and are therefore jealous b) havent got a F**king clue about fashion and totally couldnt understand/comprehend the working of it (Seasons etc) c) A probably buy from nothing but you typical commercial copy brands.
TWO: Please before you try to start a intellgent conversation make sure your critisim is constructive rather than just slating it cause you cant handle the fact that you were either fired or turned down for a job.
Now - before i go: Nope im not and employee, but do respect what they are trying to do and have established. And i am a keen fashion follower plus work within the retail business. Which why it buggs the crap out of me when peeps just cant do anything other than slate the peeps that try to make a difference.

The best thing about the sale (the men’s sale anyway) is that you can buy usually expensive, high quality work clothes at 50% off. All the regular suits and shirts in all sizes just sit there on the hangers all season. And when the sale comes, you’re guaranteed to find your size because the “fashion victims” aren’t interested.
I don’t even remember the last time I paid full price there!
19. SWOS | June 5th, 2006 at 11:58 pm
Fashion Guruess ur 100% right , thank you.
20. hurricane | June 9th, 2006 at 4:30 am
fashion guruess, a) i gather that since u can type then u can obviously read, we said we all shopped at villa moda, and i can go but the merchandise from italy straight from the manufacturers if i wanted, but id rather be poor than as niave as u, villa moda is overpriced, live with it. next time u should add “ppl with common sense” to ur list
b) no i dont and couldnt care less
c) not everyone is blessed, and with that u sound either A) insecure, or B) naive…and therefore should either A) go do something useful for a change, B) save ur comments, or C) die
as for TWO: no i was not fired nor turned down, i just had 3 months of free time to use up so i worked there, but got sick of the place after 3 weeks and went somewhere else. got anymore theories?
oh and what difference r u talking about? u say it as if fashion will someday save us from global warming or some shit like that, seriously wake up. i respect anyone who works hard for a living no matter what they do
and read my first comment clearly next time, im not attacking the place over nothing nor bieng biased, i simply stated my views and shared my experiences there
SWOS, all the respect in the world to u man, but what coupons? i wasnt given anything nor told about it, so there u go another reason why i dont like that place and wont be shopping there from now on
THE END

Dear All,
I have worked in Villa Moda and maybe can clarify few things here. I left for one reason, and that’s discrimination that is all over the place. They judge staff according to their colour not by the job that they do. Yes, they stock goods from ten seasons ago and they make their own prices, whatever goes goes. Sometimes there were people travelling and knowing real price, and constant complaints, but once you buy the staff-you’re done, they’ll laugh in your face. Sheikh Majed doesnt care abut customers all he cares is Money.I left because I was so bloody gorgeous and couldn’t bare the way this monkey is!
