Night Rider

Nat and Marzouq

Yesterday’s meeting was pretty cool but it got more interesting for me towards the end. Marzouq was leaving on his bike and I was telling a couple of friends there how cool it was and that I would love to own one like it one day when they suggested that I go with him for a ride. It was an awesome suggestion but I took a couple of seconds to think it over since I wasn’t properly dressed and I didn’t have a helmet. But then I thought like what the hell, all of that wasn’t very important since I really wanted a ride on this bike. So I was upstairs in Starbucks and Marzouq was downstairs outside getting ready to get on his bike and leave so we all started waving to him and banging on the windows to wait up since I wanted to go for a ride on the bike.

I quickly went down, tucked my shirt in and got on behind him and he took off. The ride lasted like 2 minutes but it was AMAZING. It was the most intense feeling I’ve had in a long time and it was just toooo overwhelming. I wasn’t even feeling the hot wind hitting my face, I was too focused on the way the bike was making it’s way onto the Gulf Road between the cars and the rush it gave me. We actually hit 220km per hour, it was crazy.

After Marzouq dropped me off I was still smiling like an idiot like I was stoned or something. I definitly want a bike now. Mark says I can’t ride cuz I’m petite and I tell him he can’t get a bike if I can’t ride. But he doesn’t know that I will be getting one eventually weither he likes it or not :)

    Sorry Bug,
The pictures that I have taken at the meet have been tagged “private” as the people in the photos may not want to have their pictures viewed by public.

  19. 19. Marzouq | August 8th, 2006 at 1:19 pm

    Nat soon hopefully!

Aziz we were going too fast for people to notice! hehehe!

Bug I dont know how many people want to get on now, but Nat has always wanted to ride so since she asked I had to oblige! hehehe! And I gotta say she has guts! Most people usually scream their heads off the first time!

and for people who think Jetskis are fast this is 10 times faster and its the same feeling you get when a plane takes off except you gotta hold on for your life!

“but it was AMAZING. It was the most intense feeling I’ve had in a long time and it was just toooo overwhelming”.

  21. 21. Mark | August 8th, 2006 at 2:09 pm

dont remind me, once she got on the bike i thought she was not coming back. there were bets taking place at starbucks on if she was going to come back or not even lol

  22. 22. Nat | August 8th, 2006 at 2:12 pm

Oh poor marky. Oh well don’t worry if I ever take off it will be on my own bike, lol:p

  23. 23. Marzouq | August 8th, 2006 at 3:38 pm

hahaha u guys had bets! thats hilarious! If I knew about the bets I would have ended up in MIseela or something! loool!

  24. 24. holla | August 8th, 2006 at 5:24 pm

hehe yeah I was suggesting ppl start putting their money where their yap is

  25. 25. tj | August 8th, 2006 at 6:11 pm

sorry mark but you gotta be freakin mad to let your wife go on a bike in Kuwait without a helmet. Im not saying marzouq isnt trustworthy but its the other drivers that are mad. It only takes a second…….. damn

  26. 26. Mark | August 8th, 2006 at 7:38 pm

i thought they were going to drive around starbucks. didnt think they would be flying down the gulf road at 220km and hour

  27. 27. Les | August 8th, 2006 at 8:33 pm

You mean flying down “the highway” at 220 km an hour.

  28. 28. Marzouq | August 8th, 2006 at 9:57 pm

tj I took that into consideration, but the road was half empty, and I know the responsibility of another person with me. Im good enough to know how to avoid people and thats what I do best. Like you said its the crazy people on the road, but its weekday and most of the people I saw on the road were families.. and I did reach that speed, but I didnt remain there.. I knew she wasnt wearing a helmet, thats why I made it a quick ride.. so then nobody would worry! Next time with full gear that will be another story!

  29. 29. eddy | August 9th, 2006 at 12:32 am

  32. 32. princess | August 9th, 2006 at 1:11 am

Oh sweetie… Nat… not in kuwait. It’ll be a cold day in hell before they let girls ride bikes in Kuwait let alone give crash courses :(

Portland, OR. Then you can apply for a DMV Motorcycle license :)

  33. 33. Nat | August 9th, 2006 at 9:31 am

Actually princess Tristar in Kuwait city gives riding courses for 200 KD, I went and asked when we were checking a Ducati bike there.. It would be for 2 weeks if you go everyday.

    Eddy yeah that’s us..

  34. 34. fadibou | August 9th, 2006 at 12:00 pm

NAT: I will get you on the Harley before you rule them out. You can get a 1200 cc Harley in great shape for around 2000 KD. They can do 180/190 and they are surely a more comfy ride.
Mar was so against Harleys until last month, now she wants to ride once the weather cools off.

    Sporties and Harleys:
Its like comparing a Honda with turbo to an 8 cyclinder Chevrolet. Both ride fast and each has its pros and cons but the Harley is surely more comfy for city cruising or for a hop to the Marina on trafficed weakened.

  35. 35. Marzouq | August 9th, 2006 at 2:09 pm

fadibou.. I agree with you that the Harley is very comfortable its just about what the person wants from the bike.. the thing is a sports bike is rediculously faster and it outhandles a harley, but that is what it is built to do.. handle.. a harley is good for a chill ride.. and getting you places comfortably… the bike I have is really comfortable, way more then a Ducati 999 for example.. some people go for one or the other

  36. 36. fadibou | August 9th, 2006 at 5:35 pm

I tried the 999 and the monster, they sound both went well and I agree on the rush, acceleration and that sudden G force that grips you.
For me its like a Ferrari, its always nice to rent for a day, enjoy, blast in it, but return it and take your comfy 4X4 to the office and fill it up from Sultan center.

  37. 37. Mark | August 9th, 2006 at 9:02 pm

my problem with the harleys is they generally look boring. they sound cool but there is nothing like italian design.

  38. 38. The Grenadine | August 10th, 2006 at 1:28 am

Sounds like you had fun!!:-) Looks like Mark’s got to step up now!
