Sushi Quick Reviews

I love sushi, I wouldn’t mind having sushi everyday. I have only tried out 3 sushi places in Kuwait so far.

Kei
The first suchi place I went to with Mark was Kei, Marina Mall branch. The food was excellent, good service, large variety and decent pricing vs quality. We had 42 pieces of sushi and the price came out to be around KD16. I definitely recommend it and think it deserves a score of 4.5 out of 5.

Maki
Second place I went to with a couple of my workmates and which turned out to be nothing but a big mistake, was Maki also located in Salmiya. The place was a total rip off, the service was very bad and slow, and the waiter in charge of our table gave me something totally different from what I had ordered (I don’t even think he knew anything about sushi), the sushi wasn’t even appetizing, it was a very bad experience, definitely a let down and I would give it a 1.5 out of 5.

Kamikaze
Finally the third place me and Nibaq decided to try out for lunch a couple of days ago was Kamikaze in Palms. The interior decor of the restaurant was cool, pretty cozy, not alot of tables and chairs, a bit japanese like. The waiters and waitresses were dressed in Red Kimonos, very cute. The menu to my dissapoitment didn’t offer a large variety of sushi, merely the basic stuff you would find in any sushi restaurant. The food was good but the portions were very small, the maki rolls were tiny compared to the other restaurants I had been to, which made the prices a bit high for what we were getting in return. The service on the other hand was excellent, the waiters were very friendly and experienced and the manager visited our table to get our feedback before we left the place. I wouldn’t say I dont recommend the place, but I personnaly thought that Kei was a much better place and a much nicer experience. I give Kamikaze a 3 out of 5.

Hey nat, i am also a sushi eater, i like to go to all japanese restaurants here in kuwait.. but one thing is strange!!if u didnt even see a tv there in “maki” and there is 2 plasma screens this means that either u went to the wrong place or u were too busy to look around urself or take your time to eat.. anyhow,at least as long as u will not go anymore there would always be a free table for us, people who appreciate quality food.. why dont u go to burger king? lol

    Hey Mark,

I agree with Fabio…Try out Kaizen. In my opinion they are the best sushi joint after Wasabi. Only diff compared to wasabi this palce is much cosier and quiter and they play lounge music to chill all of which me and my wife enjoy when we are having sushi.

I think its in Maidan hawaly. I can give you general directions cause I dont know street names. Basicallly if you know where Shaab park is then its easy. Keeping Shaab Park on your right head towards Salmiya you will hit a traffic light before the street heading towards La Bagutte. When you stop at this traffic light you should be able to see Mr. Baker on your top left corner. After this traffic light turn left as if you were heading towards Arabian Gulf Street , Mr Baker now is on your right. Take the first right street immediately after Mr Baker and head dowm the street till you hit the intersection. You will see a sort single storey complex right in front you. Kaizen in this complex on the right of the enterance. And hey since you like Shawerma’s there is a joint right next to it cant vouch for though ;-) My fav joint is a place called Lazeez in Riggai Area 2 . Directions. get on the 5th Ring Road head towards IKEA cross the bridge and immediatel after on the right take the 602 exit into Riggai at the tiny round about turn left and countinue down the street about 100 to 200 mts you should see it. Let me know how it turns out on both theses place I would love to know your Opinion.
