Whats so special?
I will be going to Lebanon in two days so a couple of weeks ago I called up my mum to ask her if she needed anything from here. She told me that there was a golden unisex Swatch watch that she’s been wanting for quite a while but that it’s been out of stock in Lebanon for a while now and people are placing special orders for it like 2 months ahead.
According to my mum this Swatch was the latest craze in Lebanon and all her friends and cousins bought one. So, I went to marina mall the next day to check it out, they didn’t have it on display but turns out they had 10 of them available hidden in a drawer underneath the counter. I was like cool, it doesn’t seem to be very popular here so I’ll just wait and get it before I travel. Big mistake.
We passed by the shop last week and they told us they had run out of it but that they were supposed to get more on saturday (2 days ago). I called them up on saturday and turns out there had been a delay and they are not supposed to get another shippment till the middle of the month. What’s fucked up is that I had already told my mum I had found it here and she was thrilled! What I still don’t understand is what’s soo fucking special about this watch that is making everybody want it??

my sister asked me to order her one of those and aramex it to her a couple of weeks ago. I dont really see a reason for people to get crazy about it. I wasnt suprised with it being run out in kuwait, but its reached lebanon too!!

Yeah Al fanar is the one I just called up. The guy told me they wouldnt have it in their other outlets either including the airport:( I guess I’ll have to look for it when i go down to Lebanon in 2 days.

Wow It’s more popular than I thought. It’s considered to be Unisex by Swatch but I think it looks rather Feminine.
it has been out of stock in Kuwiat for 5 months now, ppl were selling it for a 100 kd and 80 kd USED!!!! i dont even like how it looks, anyways i saw a few ads about it in the advertisment newspapers as waseet and 9adaa..they still have ads for it,
Yeah well regarding the demand I’m actually surprised now that the Swatch dealer was only selling it for 35kd. I don’t like how it looks either.

There isnt any in lebanon from what my friend told me. He looked all over lebanon for it.. and he called me up so I called swatch here and sent him 5 of them a little while back.. They are nuts about it over in lebanon. Nat Im pretty sure you wont find any there.
sakta.. its not really out of stock for the past 5 months.. I have bought about 12 of these for friends in lebanon over the past 5 months.. the thing is the swatch people hide them for customers.. that is what they kept doing for me when I order more then three.. Im just happy i wasnt paying for it.. and it didnt look like anything special to me!

the funny thing about this watch is the following: i land in Kuwait 2 1/2 years ago and my bro asks me if i can get him one online. then i had to carry another 4 from the US and the next year is the same story and i saw a friend 2 months ago and she was bragging how she managed to get it from nigeria with a friend. This watch is referred to as the Shaq edition refering to shaquil Oneal and 2 years when i checked for it in the US it was out of stock and in pre orders for over demand on it. I couldnt find it in any swatch shop in the US and had to make an order for it in NY and get it shipped to my aramex box.
Its just a plastic thingy in gold colors and I still don’t get why people are dying for it.
The thing that annoys me with kuwait is the serious bad taste in fashion. I see male arabs walking around at marina mall, or wherever, wearing clothes that are VERY effeminate (sp). I would never be seen wearing them, and if they were in a place like the UK, they would be a laughing stock. The trousers they wear, and jeans, are quite often, meant for females, but due to their slightly gay alignment, they find them fasionable. Quite disgusting really. I swear i need therapy after i go to marina mall. And following from a post mark put about not seeing couples together in kuwait, i had never really noticed it until i went to dubai, and then returned back to England, and jeez! in kuwait, as a teenager, it isnt that different not being in a relationship, but when i returned back to the UK, all of my friends have been in long term relationships for a year or more. Kuwait really is messed up. It fails.

Well just incase any wanted to know… my mother came back from lebanon going on about the same thing…. by chance we crossed the road opposite the back of marina (where samsonite is) and to her belief she found one original i mite add in the tacky watch store… it was 40Kd so she bought 2 to take one back as a present… they did have a couple or so left…. so guys i suppose if your still afetr it its a first go first gets!!!
