Horrible and Gruesome!
I was reading an article in Kozmo this morning that totally stunned me. The latest statistics showed in China that 40 million ton of DOG meat have been consumed by the chinese over the past 2 days in celebration of the Dog Year. I had previously thought that the chinese praise and glorify dogs in China in celebration of the New Year instead of eating them! So I decided to do some more research on the subject and here’s what i found out:
It seems that it is a usual practice to bleed the dogs to death by puncturing their throat to obtain a more tender tasty meat. All animals are usually crammed altogether in tiny dirty crates without food and water for days waiting to be slaughtered one after another. In fur farms dogs and other pets are literally skinned alive!! I also went to the Peta website where I downloaded a video featuring a fur farm in China and I couldn’t believe what I saw. I couldn’t make it through half of the video because it made me sick. It showed how they skin live dogs and the dog would still be moving in agitation or how they beat them on the ground to make them weak and semi-conscious before they skin them. It’s absolutely terrifying how such atrocity towards animals exists. And now I cannot take these horrifying images off my mind. Maybe we should start boycotting chinese and korean products for a change!!
Here’s the the video. I don’t advise sensitive people to watch it though due to the extreme harsh content. [Link]

yeah i saw Peta video a while back.. china doesnt have human rights to have animal rights.. and boycotting their products would serve a purpose but they wont do anything about it!

7. WTF? | February 14th, 2006 at 3:13 pm
Why not …. it’s a dog ppl.. why is it ok to eat a cow and not a dog?
http://www.slate.com/?id=2060840 sums it by stating” The value of an animal depends on how you treat it. If you befriend it, it’s a friend. If you raise it for food, it’s food”
and for the other side of the coin

Nasty nasty nasty. It’s so inhumane!

If cows were skinned alive, I wouldn’t eat them. If chicken were skinned alive I wouldn’t eat them. Fish choke to death. It’s bad, but it still isn’t like being skinned alive. What I don’t understand is why they don’t kill them first before skinning them. I’m not squemish and I’ve slaughtered sheep in Eid myself, but man that video really freaked me out.

Nat-
There was a horrifying HBO expose/documentary sometime in the 1990’s about China and its extreme fondness for consuming dogs and cats. Not to mention its astounding and inhumane cruelty towards them. What I saw broke my heart. And once I saw what I did (a live cat was skinned and boiled), I was never able to forget how strange and ugly a society that has this rich and ancient cultural history could be.
My Japanese roommate in college explained it to me this way, about the Chinese ( and the Japanese are fundamentally dfferent when it comes down to being humane to all living creatures). When you are hungry and there are too many mouths to feed with not enough food to go around, you cease to put limits on what you will consume. You cease to care for anything except your own survival. The concept of cruelty ceases to exist in the struggle to eat and live.
How frightening, and desperately sad…
I could not watch your video for one major reason: I greatly love animals. Cruelty to them drives me wild with anger and will not allow me to sleep at night. I can imagine what was in the video you posted. The first time I saw such things in the afore mentioned program, was enough to have affected, disturbed, and penetrated me deeply to this very day. The images are burned forever in my mind.
You can safely judge how civilized a society is by how it treats it’s women, children, and animals…
Enough said, I think.
(No offense intended to anyone from China, this is just my personal viewpoint to be expressed as I see fit)
Ms Baker
P.S. Hope your new puppy is well and happy, and fitting into his new home.

Yep! sorry
Dudette! AND man Dudette you have a strong stomach if you watched all of that…i couldnt watch anymore after a bit.
Out of curiosity would you know if there are any side-effects to eating dog meat?
16. Nat | February 15th, 2006 at 8:51 am
Ms baker you’re absolutely right, nevertheless there are more people starving in Africa, i don’t see them eating cats and dogs there as far I know.. Even if we chose not to argue the fact that chinese and koreans eat dogs, the way they do it like how they torture the animal is just unacceptable and that applies for cows and sheep and all the animals.
Arablondoner there’s no way I could have watched that video till the end, I could barely make it through the first 30 seconds then I started fast forwarding then I just stopped cuz it really made me sick in my stomach. However I read that in some cases the dog meat might be infected if the dog has rabies so you be eating rabid dog meat which is fatal. Also there’s a false rumor among the Chinese and Koreans that dog meat makes them more fertile which is totally bullshit of course.

I didn’t even attempt to watch the video. Your description was gruesome enough. But something you said struck me: there is so much cruelty going on in the world—to animals, to children, to women, to the environment—and yet we are idiotically banning Danish products because of a frickin’ cartoon? The state of the world is the way it is today because our priorities are totally skewed!

Killing dogs is cruel but those horrible noisy, squieecky cats, I want to send all of them to china, they scratched my bikes seat and they go and pee on it all the time. That is digusting, I have to wash my bike all the time because of them.
Send all cats to China please
20. Nat | February 15th, 2006 at 12:44 pm
Lol, im going almost through the same thing fadibou. Those cats are all over our parking, they leave footprints all over my car after it’s been washed and I can’t even take the top of my convertible jeep off because they would end up sleeping in my car at night and scratching the seats. China is a harsh treatment for them though, I’m just waiting for Geo to grow up so that I can make him go after them and hopefully chase them away:)
21. Kleio | February 15th, 2006 at 4:57 pm
Red, absolutely right. Couldn’t have put it any better than that. Amen.
22. fadibou | February 16th, 2006 at 1:11 am
after seeing the video, i got disgusted and sorry for those dogs. I hugged Miki for like minutes and he started screaming, I think he thought i am crazy and got all emo on him. I made him a great lunch after that and let him sleep in bed next to me and removed his colar.
Now back to cats, they need not china, but a trip to iraq with a US flag around their colars would do the job

Red, how dare you even say that we as in (ARAB MUSLIMS) are idiotically banning Danish products because of a frickin’ cartoon, for your information those “frickin’ cartoons” which you simply stated, are pictures of the most respected and most looked up to man in ISLAM, the prophet mohamad salla alla alayh wa sallam, thos pictures were sketched by a bored, sick danish man who has no idea what he started when he drew those pictures! and believe me if i were you i wouldn’t give your “idiotically frickin’ opinon” in public, espescially in a place were someone can get you.
24. Nat | March 10th, 2006 at 4:12 pm
Red was just stating his opinion, no need to get aggressive here Limited.
