Dubai and I

Last week I went to Dubai for training. It was only for three nights and I really wished it was more. There were a lot of things I wanted to do and a lot of places I wanted to see but with the training taking up the whole day and only having the evening to enjoy Dubai I really didn’t have any time at all. From what I saw I was really impressed with Dubai, the structures and buildings give the illusion that Dubai is a grand towering city like New York or Tokyo. I was really impressed at the amount of cabs available, Mark told me that I would find a cab easily but I didn’t expect it to be this easy. Everywhere you look there is a cab ready to take you where ever you wanted to go. Its very practical especially if you are a tourist.
Our agency stayed at the Rotana Towers Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road and I have to say I loved the breakfast buffet. They had a lot of yummy things including pancakes! I didn’t have time to do a lot of shopping or exploring in Dubai but I did manage to visit the Merkatto Mercato Mall, Jumeira Hotel, Mall of the Emirates and Emirates Tower. Merkatto Mercato Mall is a fairly small size mall in Dubai and I just had dinner there with my co-workers. Jumeria Hotel on the other hand was just breathtaking, we had dinner at a Tai restaurant there with an amazing view of the Burj Al Arab hotel right in front of us. The food was really good and I had lots of wine before I went back to the hotel tipsy and tired. Mall of Emirates was also amazing, its really huge! I went to meet up with an old friend there but I only had 1 hour to shop around before the shops closed at 10. One hour was definitely not enough time but there was nothing I could do about it. After leaving the mall me and my friend went to Scarlet’s pub in the Emirates Tower and it was ladies night. The place was full of Europeans which was very nice since it reminded me a lot of my pubbing days in Lebanon.
Although I only got to see very little of Dubai I really loved what I saw and I hope I can go back sometime soon. There are a lot of places I still want to see and I really want to do a lot more shopping. Hopefully next time…

So what is the nature of your complaint?
Hi Nat, good to hear you’ve had fun here in Dubai. btw, its ‘Mercato Mall’ and since you were put up in Jumeirah, a visit to the Madinat Jumeirah (mall+hotel) should’ve been a must. I’m sure you would’ve liked it, more so if you enjoyed Mercato Mall.
Purgatory this is Nat;)
Tazz i will make sure i will get to visit madinat Jumeirah next time, I’ve heard good stuff about it from my sister who’s been to Dubai twice so far.
Good to know you enjoyed the place.
Maybe this sound a silly question:
1- How good are your Arabic skills for design and typo work (both of you)?
2- Will you be interested in considering moving with the old man and Geo to Dubai?
Maybe you want to take this to email.
